Switch ADSL to VDSL modulation

HiI hope someone might be able to help.

I have a 20Mbps line with telkom that syncs on ADSL2+. I have requested numerous times in the past that telkom please switch me over to VDSL modulation, but seems like thats where it stops as this has never happend? My modem/router is VDSL capable (DLink DSL-224) and I have tried connecting via VDSL settings but it only syncs to ADSL2+….

I have received an sms from Telkom last week stating that Telkom was busy upgrading infrastructure and that my service could be interrupted and then 48hrs later I received a sms stating that the upgrade was now completed.

Telkom also sent me another sms that notified me that my line speed would be upgraded from 20Mbps to 40Mbps at no additional cost.

I checked the last couple of days but still same story syncing to ADSL2+ only.

It does not seem to help if I speak with the people when calling their 10210 number. I am hoping that someone here might be able to help.


I have included the settings used, and the connection stats.

Is your internet working at the moment ? You're using channel type PTM and VLAN ID 835 which is only for VDSL.
I'm confused as to why they're finding it so difficult to change your modulation from ADSL to VDSL. All it took was one call from me to 10210 to get this sorted out and it came into effect right away.
Try again tomorrow - choose the option to log a fault and give them some story about your line being weak on ADSL and VDSL should fix the issue. Alternatively, send the TelkomZA twitter account a DM and they should be able to help.

Thanks so much. I called Telkom this morning and requested again to switch modulation to VDSL. This time the person dit something correct on their side as it is on VDSL now.
