I'm currently with Telkom/Openserv and I'm very unhappy with Telkom as their billing dept really sucks. I have 11 months of a 24 month contract, (more like a sentence), to complete but would really like to switch to Afrihost whom I was with previously when I had ADSL and they still host my email addresses. Can a changeover be done?

It can definitely be done and to sweeten the deal we will credit your Afrihost account with whatever Telkom charges you as a penalty. We will give you a free router also to get going. Below is the pricing and a screenshot of the migration promo and terms associated.

Thanks for replying, I would definitely like to change to Afrihost, could a change over be done without any interruption of service as I use the internet all the time? What is the first step in the process? Should I give Telkom notice to disconnect the service?

On Openserve there is no downtime at all as the B number remains active in the holding pool.

The very first step is to get Telkom to start the cancellation process and get an invoice or a statement showing how much you are going to be paying to cancel. We need that statement for accounts to credit your Afrihost account.

Remember we will not pay Telkom ISP the penalty fee. You would need to settle this we will credit you Afrihost account with that fee and that essentially means you use that credit first when you start services with us.

That's great! I've just cancelled with Telkom, given 30 days notice. Should I wait until nearer the date that services will be discontinued before signing up with Afrihost or can I begin that right away? Obviously I don't want to be paying for both.

We won't charge you until you are live.

We also can not place a migrate order until your line is released by Telkom. I would suggest signing up as a migrate and sending me your clientzone email address so I can add the relevant notes to the account.

We don't want a situation where the promo might be ended before you signed up but the migration promotion has been on for a while now.

Once you have a termination statement/invoice from Telkom please send that through to us so we can allocate the relevant credit to your Afrihost account.

You must signup as a migrate and not a new install. :)

I can recommend Afrihost ...I have no issues with them and was up and running in less then 3 days from placing my order

I can testify to this, ordered the morning of 23/4, was up and running by the afternoon of 26/4. Only niggle was the supposedly preconfigured router, that was NOT preconfigured. Not a big deal, I just configured it myself, but don't say you've done something you haven't.

please don’t - you will regret it. Once you signed, end of support. I have been on slow speeds on a 200mb up and down line for 1-2 weeks, and no service since Sunday with no support from Afrihost.
