Just a rant...

Why are console (PS and XBox included) game prices so much more than PC? Even without discounts etc from Steam and the like.
I was looking at picking up "My Friend Pedro" as it looks like quite a fun platformer perfect for the Switch.
But it's R300+ on the Switch and only R130 for PC.

Added costs for the port or what?
Just find it frustrating.

Licensing fees etc. They have to give MS/Sony a cut of the sales... etc. PC don't have that problem.

Licensing fees. PC is open platform, consoles aren't. Hence why its faster to patch pc games as well, don't need to go through MS & Sony's qa systems as well as in the inhouse QA systems.

Switch premium bro. It's what it costs to scale the graphics down to run on a potato.

Switch is more expensive in general physical form because of Core.

Digitally Switch is actually pretty cheap last time I checked.

It's still a lot pricier than PC, and on PC you get to turn settings up

But you pay more for the PC, especially if you want to turn those settings up.

It all balanced out depending on your playing habits.

Royalties as mentioned. Also the switch uses physical memory so more expensive to make.

Love the excuse, we keep the price of digital the same as physical so that brick and mortar shops can keep going? WTF!!! Why should we pay the same for a digital download that technically isn't ours when there is no media that it comes on and the shop can remove it anytime they feel like it. I've still got some old Xbox games that are gone from the ether due to them disappearing off the market place and region switches.

It's always some excuse when we were promised cheaper games to sell the idea of digital but then never materialised. Deus Ex still sells for $10 on GOG. Yeah good game but as I've said before NO 19 year old game should still sell for $10. The only time we get games for cheaper is when they're on special so still no difference than scouting out the shops for specials. There should be regular permanent price adjustments but still we have to wait for games to go on discount before we can buy them at their real worth.

Yup like Freespace 2 as well on GOG is also 10 dollars, it's 20 years old wtf!!! It should be a dollar maybe 2 but nope 10 dollars sigh.

I'm guessing Africa doe snot really matter as a market so we're thrown in with the European market.
That's why we pay more for PlayStation games than some eastern countries. I've seen some threads on how to make a korean? PS account and purchase the games from there.

This. I could not wait for the release of a game on switch, bought it on the Japan store for R100 cheaper. Go figure

The South African Switch store was cheaper than pretty much anywhere else that lots of Yanks and Europeans were using it to buy games. So they geo-locked it recently and put the prices up. Stopped me from buying Skyrim in the last sale because I was out of the country.

Most of the older games required changes to run on current OSes, and often they have to get it working without having access to the source code. So yeah, that takes a lot of work, and they need to recoup the money spent on it.

But it's been on GoG for ten of those twenty years. Surely by now it should be a lot less.

The last Deus Ex patch was in 2001. Since then it's a hit and miss whether it will work properly on your system. A lot of their games are just plonked onto third party VMs. It's only the remastered versions that really have new development.
