Cape Town - Subscribers anxious to switch service providers will be disappointed to learn that cellular service providers won't be able to beat the September 17 deadline by which they should have adopted mobile number portability (MNP).

For the third time in less than a year, Vodacom, MTN and Cell C have yet again requested telecoms regulator Icasa to grant them an indefinite extension to the deadline by which they would to sort out the pertinent issues required to adopt MNP.

There are 2 problems with that statement.

Firstly, an indefinate extention? MY GAT! That's like, right, so can I take the phone now, and never pay you the monthly subscriptions? "Indefinate" to me says they haven't even started.

Secondly, how hard is it? All countries accross the world do it, fly someone over there to look and come do it here. (I know it's not THAT simple...but common)
