Switching Fibre ISP - how long should this take?

Hi.
Migrating from Axxess to Afrihost.
Same property, same FIbre provider (Octotel), the hardware is in place and working.
Put in cancellation with Axxess a while back and they cancelled on time.
Put in a new order with Afrihost 27/01.
Contacted them yesterday to check what's happening and the consultant said 24 hours which has elapsed.
Got hold of them again and now apparently it takes up to 4 days to switch?
Is this usual? I would think there is minimal configuration which could/should be automated.
The support guys are very friendly but can't offer any real explanations just that it is not simple. Does anyone have any insight into the process?
Seems ridiculous and a step backwards from what it was with ADSL.
