My stats on ADSL2+ @ 20mb is as follows

On speed test i get 17.4 mbits down and 0.8 mbits up

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin (dB): 93 124
Attenuation (dB): 205 125

Would there be any

1. speed
2. SNR
3. Attenuation benefit

to me purchasing a VDSL modem to switch to a VDSL modulation, I have no interest in upgrading to 40mbits atm.

You should focus on SONA speech today boet. Worry about VDSL tomorrow

The president speaks at SONA no need for me to focus boet. I got first world problems here.

I have the same question - I have a model to that can do both VDSL/ADSl and I live in an area where I can 20MBPS confirmed. So I want to upgrade but not sure if I should ask for uprgrade on ADSL or VDSL (upgrading from ADSL 10Mbps) - is uplaod the only adavantage of VDSL on 20Mbps profile vs ADSL?

If you already have the VDSL modem I would try both modulations and compare SNR and Attenuation. My issue is I didn't realise the ASUS RT-68U was only a router.

I should have gone for DSL-68U model which is router/modem combo. I cant complain though because Im getting 2.1mb/sec down atm and upload speeds are not priority.

I was under impression that if I changed and got VDSL modem that the line speed could even reach max of 2.5 mb/sec as a result of SNR and Attenuation improvement. From the comments above I guess this is not possible and physical limitations of line will be equal under both modulations.
