My 384-line is currently with Saol but I want to switch back to Telkom. So I emailed my cacelation to Saol and they replied by stating that by canceling my account, my ADSL line will also be canceled ,and that I will need to order an ADSL line again from Telkom.Do I have to pay anything extra if I apply for adsl at Telkom and use the self install option?

They are talking cr@p, I got the same story from them a while ago. They need to migrate it back to Telkom, I think it is easier for them just to cancel it. They also made me wait almost 40 days to cancel my line.

I'm in the middle of going through this process at the moment.
I first had to pay for May, as that was a month receipt of cancellation and I emailed Desiree to find out the process to get my line migrated back to Telkom.
She said I should contact her on the 31st to find out; so I did.
She then let me know that Telkom is in a back-log for new orders so it'll take a while.
It's now the 12th and I'm still waiting :|

So what did you do after they canceled your line?I also think its just better to cancel the line, but do I have to pay anything extra if I apply for adsl at Telkom if i use the self install option?

In theory, no charge. The risk is that there are so few ports left on your DSLAM that you lost your ADSL port!!!!

They talk b******t, they can migrate your line back to Telkom. Go talk to youl local Telkom customerservice center, they should be able to help, or visit Telkom's website and maybe you can change it there. I had the same problem with Cybersmart. I completed an online form on Telkom's website, (if your registered on Telkom's website), then went to see them, and the whole issue had been resolved without much touble further, as Telkom contacted CS, and that was the end of the story.

My line was with cybersmart. I had to cancel the line and apply with telkom.

Telkom techie came to the exchange and removed my adsl. Next day another techie came and switched my adsl on again. Its really a waste of time. Cause mine took about 1 week.

What i dont understand is that Saol took my line without any hassles ,but when i want to switch back to Telkom, they suddenly cant do it.

You were right, moggie.
With the SAOL downtime yesterday (after struggling with them for nearly an hour) I found out that they've had the Telkom order number with them since the 5th.
Funny how Desiree neglected to tell me that...
