not sure if this is the right thread,or if my request is possible

but I want to leave vodacom for cell c
I`m using a prepaid account and would like to keep my number if possible

anything that is needed?
id,bill,residence etc?
will I need to re rica my sim?

ID and Proof of Residence for RICA.
They'll do the port in store.
Usually active in 24 hours.

Switch to prepaid, then they can port your number. I switched a week ago from MTN to CellC. CellC have great packages, but just beware that their network really is inferior, depending on where you are. According to their coverage map, I have great signal at work, but in reality there is no signal. In such cases, it switches to roaming on Vodacoms network, but you'll only get Edge (no 3g/HSDPA). If it switches back and forth a lot, it gets confused and sometimes I have no coverage for quite a while - so what I do is to switch to Vodacom before I get to work, and back when I leave - this is #$%^T& annoying but it looks like I'm stuck with this for the next two years.

What naboo said.

Nukefission I would highly suggest doing some research and testing of your own before porting over.
Grab yourself a prepaid Cell C sim (99c) and purchase a small data bundle and do some coverage/throughput testing in the areas you frequent. You will potentially save yourself a lot of frustration this way.

Don't just move over on a whim.

He is already on prepaid as he said.So all he has to do is go into a store and ask them to port him.

I agree, simply go to cell c prepaid for a few months and see if the service works for you, this is good practice if you ever wanna move to any network,I did this when I switched from mtn to cell c and fortunately for me I'm getting better service/reception/speeds on Cell C in all the areas I frequent. After a few months on Cell C pre paid I decided to take out a contract with cell c and I'm still happy a year later.

I already have a 2gb data contract with cell c,my conection is fine in all the places I stay
I`m already prepaid too

which store do I go to? vodacom or cell c?
cell c I think?

Aah ok if your signal is good then you're good to go.

Yes correct just go into any cell c store and they will do everything. You will then get an sms on your phone to say port has been activated,a few hours later your vodacom sim card will loose signal completely....at that point you can remove it and use your new cell c simcard which will have your old number and have signal.Very simple procedure.
