Switching from Windows to mac?

Good well its actually not my problem, I can't do anything about the speed of this machine, its not mine..

I understand.
Saying "Windows 10 is slow" because someone probably isn't doing their job properly -when it comes to setting the machines up - is kinda' not true. (It's obviously not on you, it's on them, but you know what I'm saying.)

EDIT: Anyway, back on topic. Yay Mac! :)

Right clicking using the trackpad goes back a decade so I'm afraid to say you grated your own cheese there.

Two finger clicking has been there ages. I think the keyword was "briefly". cyberbob1973 probably didn't know about 3 finger drag or 4 finger swipes to move between desktops etc. Probably the same reason why most Windows laptop users buy a mouse with their laptops because the trackpad (cheese grater) is quite useless when compared to a Mac.

No why would i do that i see the point and why mac is so popular. If that makes me soft in the head so be it but sticking to a *****ty OS like windows 10, no thanks life is to short!

If you mean Windows 10?
I am sorry but that is a piece of shyte.
True Story: Started new job, got given Windows 10 laptop. This thing is so slow I switch it on and go make coffee, and come back later, it takes long to boot, is unstable. Opening up Eclipse causes whatever audio player that happens to be running, to crash. Takes over a minute to open apps... and its brand new.

No thank you...

+1

Did not post this to start a debate but it is happening, just my opinion on the Mac OS vs Windows in my experience with the two.
If your a gamer mac is not for you.
I don't game anymore and I want a portable pc that works! Mac serves me well and it works.
I have seen the new MacBooks and i don't mind the lack of ports or the price my last upgrade on the laptop's i had was R27k (two laptop's), I see a lot of debates regarding the MacBook specs vs price, Optimization and Ecosystem count for something.
MY EXPERIENCE AND OPINION. DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS!

meh, despite my best efforts to like mac after 3 months I just couldnt so I got rid of the mbp I had.
I have an iphone and ipad that I love but I dont like mac's as primary computing devices.

Naaah, OP was never a Windows "fanboy". I can smell fake news and stories a mile away. Just look at at all that generic words, apparently used to make Sheeple feel bad about their choices. Didn't even try.
Naaah, he's a closet Apple boy. Just fell out of the closet now. I can smell the Granny Smith orchard on him.

EDIT: Real Windows fanboys, will always mention how they dual booted with Ubuntu, before discovering Windows. And how they played LLLL on Dos 4.

How can you say that! Feelings i do have them!

As for Windows 7 it was perfect, truly believe that, Windows 10 rather stick my external male intromittent organ, in a beehive, than go back of my own free will! Maybe i was a closeted Apple whore, and didn't know it for years. But i'm happy now. Those who have given apple a try (i mean not just 5 minutes a good fair try) and not liked it well done, you know what you like, i like linux mint a bunch, and still have it on a old hp probook dual booting with windws 7 and still play with it and i like it but windows as a whole is in ruins, privacy, bolt loaded crap, new Microsoft office! The whole blocky GUI and settings in seting oooook and then some in the control panel? What gives. Yes you can go into manager an disable the updates that are so annoying but if you wipe your eyes it's back to the same old shyt, there is this thing where you buy a pc and you use it the way you want to, it's your money so its your right to install what you want and run what you want, even if you need to use a work around, and no one changes you **** if you connect to the net.

Windows 10 is complete nonsense, in my eyes and user experience, my biggest problem is not with windows and Microsoft it's with what they are doing, failing as a company by spying on you and not using the data they receive to improve the crap! The whole look of Windows 10 is like Lego overlay and not in a nice/good way, if Microsoft does improve the Windows 10 stuff thats bugging me i'll try it again but until then i'm out!

This was quite a rant!

I have a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro at home, whilst only recently moving to Windows 10 from OS X at work.

I run high-end video editing applications and 3D graphics on both systems.

I miss the functionality of Finder, Spotlight and Preview on our new Windows Machines, but I find the new Windows based PC's far quicker using nVidia's CUDA GPU video rendering over the OpenCL rendering available on our AMD based Macs.

This is using Adobe CC2017 and Cinema4D.

Microsoft spying on you? Do you believe that Apple isn't? :erm:

If you put the cost aside and just purely look at OS X and it's robustness, nothing can really come close to it. Backups just work. There is never a need to do a "clean install" to get rid of clutter. Applications install and uninstall without polluting the system. Add on top of it the openness of the underlying Unix OS and drop homebrew on top of it you get a highly sophisticated all-rounder.

Linux is defragmented and each flavour of Linux tries to be different (and most try to emulate OS X or Windows). Windows is fine in a corporate environment because it's footprint is cheap. A MacBook Pro is by far the most superior development machine over anything running Linux or Windows. Just because someone can not figure out how the keyboard works does not make the OS inferior over windows. It is quite common to hear "Mac is sh*t, how do I take a screenshot/power up/power down".

I have a Macbook Pro at home and use Windows at work. Macbook is cool and the best feature is its trackpad. But, please dont ask me to use excel on Mac. So, for browsing etc Mac is great but the so called productivity apps are better on Windows. Also, the consideration should be given to costs. the mac costs are quiet high
My 2 cents
