Switching MTN service providers

Thanks for responding Pit:cool:

1. I would like to log a complaint to ICASA (but where? How? Link?)
2. I wasn't aware that I need to serve 3 months notice before I ditch them (even if your contract expires)
Reason: This 3 months thing is not stated on my contract, however there is a clause that says "By signing this contract you agree to our terms and conditions....For Terms and Conditions go to NashuaMobile website or at your nearest Nashua outlet".
So, since it was not included on the contract I thought those terms were the standard terms similar to MTNSP...BIG MISTAKE:(

Not 100 % sure as to the route for logging a complaint.

I would suggest phoning them.

Joy , got a call from Angelique @ MNP explaining to me why my newest port was unable to be found on the MNP system and when it was rectified and by who and she does'nt understand why I was not notified of the delay (is'nt that a surprise)

Got a simcard now from MTN Walk-In Canal Walk , they don't have N95's or N73's and there is a rather large list for both sadly.
Spent the nice part of an hour speaking to Ikram and Randal and Sharifa and so-on.

Stressed again the issue of letting clients know what is happening regardless of problems experienced in porting since the client can at least be told what is happening even if it does'nt happen on time instead of being told nothing at all.

Now to walk back into this dreaded centre when I get a phone call to collect another phone and then again when I put my old man's number back on his name in 3 months (I'm eagerly awaiting that stuffup to happen as the staff have advised me that previous experiences leave a lot to be desired w.r.t that)

As I left one of the subscriber systems broke again.

Haha I am laughing today.

MTNSP Canal Walk Walk-in stuffed up my port again , the joys.

On the database they can't see my port request on the 26th April , but a nice lady from GP phoned me and told me that its being sorted out and that once again I'll be contacted.

If I had a rand for each time I was to be called back by MTNSP , I'd be wealthier.

Hoping they can sort it out by this afternoon.

Well i called MTNSP and they say that i have to give I-talk 30 days notice to port to them! so i'll take it at that...:(

so now i'm asking if i can take out the new contract with MTNSP, then port my i-talk number in 30 days, that way having 2 contracts for the 30 days.

will update "our" thread

Whatever you do , get it in writing or via email. You so much as talk to them on the phone , record the conversation , when it comes to porting and clawback fees , that SP will sell its shareholders to not lose money and their attitude is take it or leave it.

Have proof of whatever you do and don't call 808 since they know less than you do and do not under any circumstances call 0831237667 from your handset because as a subscriber you WILL be billed and you will NOT be refunded , I argued at length with MTN billing on that one and I ultimately had to pay the bill and not even dream of a refund.

Your SP must help you with the porting and you should'nt have to make phone calls left , right and centre , the SP must do that since they supposed to know what is going on.

I got my old man's number active on the MTNSP side now , all working hunky dory and now dare I see it I am waiting for billing stuffup number 1 at the end of this cycle and the inevitable hooha when I do the transfer into my old man's name in 3 months time.

guess what now...

so i print up a page to send to i-talk, giving them the 30 days notice. i go to the claremont branch and the guy there tells me that i shud not give the notice and just port on the 18th!!!

now i wud definitely love to do this but thought better of it, as billing runs till the 11th and they'll prob shaft me if i port on that date.

i then call italk and the guy there says i must give the 30 days notice. fine.
then i ask what the charge would be to port now, 2 weeks before my contract ends on may 18th... and they tell me its going to cost 3900, YES, thats south african rands, not zim dollars  for 2 weeks!!! sum1 call the cops!

so i'm going to send in the letter and never want to hear from them. to every1 out there, pls don't go to I-TALK, YOU'LL DEFINITELY NOT LOVE THEM LONG TIME!

oh, and they told me its gonna cost 3000 pay in (rands, again) to get the samsung p910i on mycall 100 - which is free with MTNSP!!!

i've posted:confused: my last response on hellopeter, lets see what they say...

Dealing with any branch of Italk besides the one in 33 Ordnance Road Durban is a waste of time.
Rather contact them at the Durban office and communicate directly as I'm sure their agents elsewhere are also fed up with all the crap.

I'm thinking of switching service provider from Nashua Mobile to VodacomDirect while remaining on Vodacom network, but I've stumbled across this on Nashuas site

What happens if I wish to remain with the Vodacom Network, but wish to move to between Service Providers...
Vodacom's current business rules do not allow for porting between Service Providers, but remaining on their Network.
Thus you can port a Vodacom number, but you will have to select another Network while selecting your Service Provider.

Tell me it isn't so.

HI guys,

well RVQ, that sounds bad. at least you rae lucky that you read that and now know that you need to give 3 months notice!

So i-talk replied on HELLOPETER that i must give the 30 days notice, only thereafter can i port.

so thats that, and goodbye I-TALK. hello MTNSP - hope they better

On top of that, make sure that you give them 3 MONTHS NOTICE!!!

I'm moving from NashuaMobile to VodacomDirect so took your advice and gave 3 months notice, they called me back and said I must send them a mail 1 month before my contract expires, I think I'll keep the name of the lady I spoke to and the case ref just in case :)

I suggest you don't do that!

send them the fax, get it over with now... give them 5 months notice if you can.
