Hello!

I'm with webafrica/openserve and I want to switch to afrihost/metrofibre. Webafrica's service will end 1st of may so what would be the best way to do this? If afrihost can have the metrofibre service active on the first that would be great! I was with webafrica/metrofibre before so I still have the old ONT they provided.

Good day.
You may sign up for the Metrofibre line, and you will select a "migrate existing line" option. You can do it a week before the 1st of May so that we will have enough time with Meyrofibre for order placement and activation of service.

@Afrigirl If you request to move to a new ISP, will the line stay active until the last moment when it is released? I am so frustrated with my ISP that I am willing to pay double for a month just so the transition is as smooth as possible.

I am sorry that you are having a bad experience. Yes, the line will be active until the service termination with the FNO has been completed. You can request an early release with your ISP, who is the FNO?

Dont expect the switch to happen on day 1. Doing this is only going to end up in disappointment.

I did switch a while back - so things have hopefully improved, but the fibre provides and ISP's dont always play nice and you will have delays.

From my experience the Metrofibre guys will probably be the reason you not up and running on day 1.

100% my experience, when I moved in the previous owners never cancelled. Despite me providing documentation that I now own the house, I could not get my AfriHost account activated. It's a nightmare to communicate with Vumatel and AfriHost didn't help much at all.

@Afrigirl Just one last question. I have an old 1Gb free account from Afrihost that I have been using to do speedtest. Is that using the same bandwith/netwrk as the fibre because my speeds have been great on those speedtests? Also does your B number remain the same?

Hello. Yes it's still on the same network. The Bnumber will remain the same if the line is released and we place a receive ownership of that Bnumber. Should we place a new provide order, you will be getting a new Bnumber.

Okay I have given notice to my current ISP. So technically it ends end of April. CAn I apply with Afrihost as soon as the line is released?

Yes, you may. As soon as it's released it stays in the holding pool for up to 14 days with Openserve. We will need to place the order within that period.

When the line is released into the pool, Does my current service with my current ISP end?
