Ola Ombres...been out of touch with myadsl for a while and i noticed that telkom now has a new adsl router (mega 200)...got my mega 100 roughly 4 months ago now and was wondering if there was any possible way i could exchange it for the new mega 200...did anyone manage to accomplish this? and if so, what technique did you use? :)

Also is the mega 200 much better in terms of features? is it worth the effort?

Thanks Ombres! Will appreciate any feedback!

but they are apparently giving away the mega 200 now instead of the mega 100 with the self install right? so what if my mega 100 router becomes defective now...wouldnt they have to replace it with the current model they have in stock now? well hopefully the mega 100 has been phased out!

...........

I don't think it has been phased out. I went to the branch in Musgrave centre, Durban about 10 days ago to pick up my router and they gave me the 100. brought it back to them yesterday after I had started using it on the 15th, because it kept freezing my brand new laptop up. They tried to blame it on some card but I had the pc tech over at my house on saturday who had checked everything over. they only had the 200 in stock, but a day before that i saw a guy taking home the 100 so when the service consultant at the branch said ' depends on what we have available' I'm thinking they're still handing those out. she didn't ask why i had the 100, just that they would replace the faulty router with anything available.

ah you guys really know how to spoil a perfectly good evening hey :P

anyways i guess i should just be lucky and appreciate the fact that i at least have a free router from telkom...thank you telkom...salute!

No it hasn’t been faced out. I wanted one but they didn’t have stock. The lady said they will be receiving stock again. But yes it will replace the 100 later but not yet.

hahaha, i self installed at my office this month. I installed a mega 100 and the thing wldnt get to ther activation page. Called the dude, told him the problem he said the line was fine, he asked what lights were on. The key here seems to b if the internet light on the mega100 is off the router is faulty. Told me to take it in and they switched it out for a mega200. Its got a much better range on the wireless, and its supposedly VOIP ready, but i havent actually looked into it.

This cld b worth a shot(telling him it wont work anymore the lights out) cos they dont even test it when u take it. They just whine u stole there pots filter and network cables.

:D
