I only use OpenOffice. In fact, i only use OSS. And my job is way beyond simple office work.
Every day I meet people who complain about compatibility issues - funny thing is, the issues are between different versions of M$ Office, not M$ Office and OO!!

Some colleagues have installed OO just so that they can convert M$ docs so they open in older versions of M$ office - talk about "compatibility issues"!

Anyways, I am obviously a OSS fan, and I see ZERO point in M$ and their ludicrous pricing models.

Initially I had issues with .docx and .xlsx documents, but then it was fixed by an OpenOffice update, now have no issues with those file types. Admittedly, they aren't particularly complicated documents, but fairly advanced.

Just change the settings to save in Microsft Formats, incase you need to share the docs with someone thats using MS Office... Open Office uses formats like ods.... but supports all microsoft formats including the newer docx and xlsx etc...

I also switched over to OpenOffice but still have MS at home... works well, the only problem is that it takes slightly longer to open microsoft documents as it imports it in openoffice...
