Hey guys

Brainstorming some ideas for a bachelors. Trying to find out if there's anywhere in Jhb/Pta a group of guys can go and do some bushido or kendo or something and beat the crap out of the groom to be. My apologies if it sounds neck-beardish, but we'll need something to do while the sun's still out!

A guy from jhb I know did a bachelors on a paintball field where the groom had to run down a line of beers while being fired upon ( obviously the firing stopped while consumption of said beers was happening ) but once the last drop was down the gullet or the drinking halted, the firing commenced and was repeated til the very last beer was drunk.

Dunno where they were allowed to do that or if it's something you would be up to do but could be an idea?

Thanks, but the groom played paintball competitively so I doubt that'd phase him :)

Call the Kendo clubs in the area. 1 in PTA and 2 in JHB. They might be able to assist although you'll need to rent some Bogu (armour) for the groom and buy some Shinai (wooden swords) to beat him with. Estimate around R1.2k give or take.

FWIW, there's a kendo dojo in Rosebank, that uses the scout hall halfway down Bolton; here's hoping they're amenable to your being recreationally heathen in their (more or less) 'holy' place.. :erm:

Yea.. I was hoping someone would chime in with an alternative (other than just pking each other with sticks like kids). I grew up doing TKD so I know that respect is a huge thing. But even considering, could be a cool and memorable way to start a bachelors.

Why not paintball? Groom wears flip flops, a micro skirt and a crop top.

Paintball, go-karts or action cricket is the way to go... Never understood the humiliation aspect of a bachelors it's completely retarded. You've got the perfect excuse to get away from all the SO's and enjoy yourself, why limit it to humiliating someone and then sitting at a pub?

Do that stuff above, go watch a rugby match, have a steak dinner and THEN get outrageously drunk;)

Yea Scott. Good ideas, but like I mentioned, this guy used to play paintball like a crazy person, was sponsored and played every weekend, so even if we make him run around in his jocks, it won't bother him.

Gonna start contacting the kendo places now! Besides that gonna do the Soweto towers thing (he's scared of heights) and also finding out about the go-karts at kayalami.

Now that sounds like a fun day!!!

Yea man :) Instead of berating the guy, I'm planning a last boys/guys day of freedom.

Oh and we'll be closing off at the Butcher & Grill in Sandton

Buy two of those huge double ended flexible silicon dildos. Create a tournament ladder. Fight!

Loser of each round drinks a strafdop.

Take a cap and cut four holes front, back, left right. Push the dildos through so it looks like a jesters cap.

Groom has to wear it to the strip club.

Afaik they don't rent out stuff? :erm:
I've trained at the 3 clubs you've mentioned for quite a long time. I dont think they will...
like mentioned, its rather holy...not exactly a fun bachelors game thing.
and indeed you need months of training before sparring.
Bogu is in no way comfortable or light. nor is getting hit.
