Is anyone else having problems with it on the desire? I dont think I'm downloading the whole package or something - the tutorial just stops half way through and whenever I try type something it just beeps at me and nothing happens.

No issues on my Desire. Did you goto the link, download the installer, run installer, type in your username/password, download package, run package?

Had the same problem on my desire...I uninstalled swype and its installer then installed it all again and now is fine. Seems to be a common thing on the desire, saw this problem on other forums

Installed it on my desire no problem, this program is amazing, haven't used it in a conversation yet aka mxit, but i did some practice sms's and it is awesome,

Do you think it will be quicker to type in portrait since u only use 1 finger?

Way to remedy the p2z problem.

Change back to normal keyboard, restart phone.
Enable Swype, restart phone.

Problem fixed, it only happens once.

But afrikaans isn't supported yet, how does it work? Im afrikaans and thinking of getting the Galaxy S with swipe already integrated, did ponder about this issue.

The way swype learns:

Just as you normally type a msg
New word [space]

and that is it, in the memory bank!
