No it's not a new microstock site. It's a new concept aiming to take back control from a corporate structure that screws over both contributors and customers.

The symbiostock software is installed on a contributors site where you can set your own prices and usage terms for photos, vectors, illustrations or videos. All profit from these sales go directly to you. Symzio crawls contributor sites and adds all stock to the contributor space on the site. The terms for stock sold on the site are $1.99 for a low resolution version with basic license. Royalty-free license prices are set by contributors. Contributors get between 70-80% of profits.

Contributors link to the Symzio site or their own space on the site and in return Symzio links to the contributor sites. These referrals earn commission where if you happen to sell your own stock on the site makes you earn effectively 100% of profits. The idea is to create a network of contributors selling each other's contributions instead of a corporate entity selling it for them.

There's no overselling of stock in packages that remain largely unused while contributors get only a small amount for downloads that are used. Instead users pay less for what they do use and contributors get a larger share of the profits.
