Sync dropping constantly. Any theories please ?

i just got an sms now from telskum to say they tested my line and everything looks fine. obviously they don't regard my 2 minute syncing as a problem. i give up. the system has won. i have been defeated :-( I cannot explain to the clowns that my SNR is around 4 coz they most likely wont have a clue what i'm on about

Lolz I tried many times to explain SNR to them, but they are like brick walls, these idiots can't understand anything.. My SNR was 15-20 last year had very stable line for the whole year. Now my SNR starts of at 9 and keeps dropping every time I refresh the router page till it reaches 0.5 to -8 sometime :D

Also my attenuation went from 38 last in december up to 48 and somedays it even goes to 52 meanwhile still staying in same house.. Must be all my snoring making the house move so far that it affect my attenuation so much....

What I suggest is, log a fault, get Telkom to rewire the internal wiring, can be damaged by vacuum cleaners, rats, etc. - If they are unwilling, apply for an additional prepaid line (R 283 per year) and once they are busy installing ask the technician to swap the lines.

Before you do though, unplug all telephones, alarms (normally in the roof or cupboards) or any other instruments / equipment / wiring (extension leads - normally the cause) / filters etc. that might be connected to the line and plug the modem (only) into the socket that is closest to the line entry point in the building. Also, follow the wiring where it leaves the building to the end of the premises to verify the integrity of the cable.

Once done, test the line and report the values.
