Hey guys,

I upgraded to 4mbit (DSL1024) yesterday and it's syncing at the right speeds but I am still maxing at my previous speeds - 512 (DSL512) ...

Telkom have confirmed the upgrade, my netgear router is confirming this...what do I need to do? I already disconnected about 70 times, changed from IS account to SAIX and vice versa. Anything I am missing???

Same thing happened to me when I last upgraded. Call them ask them to reset the line - that sorted it for me.

Sorry, they saw you coming... My "up to 4 MB" line runs at between 300 and 600 KB most of the time, with the occasional blip "up to 4 MB" that usually occurs at 3 am and lasts for around 5 minutes.

What a joke these thieving, lying, incompetent scumbags are.

The max I get on a 4MB line is 1.6MB's, and this is on a line with no noise and high SNR. Even their higher end techies are clueless why this is happening. I eventually gave up trying to push the line to 4MB's. It's not Telkom or Neotel in the near future. It's the employment pool thay have to get their staff from.....

update: I called telkom (0800 375375) and got the guy to reset the line line or whatever. that didn't work. He then logged a fault on the line (all this at 6am BTW!!). A technician called about 15 minutes later (6:15AM!!!!! - unreal!!) and reset the line from his side. Nothing. Still maxing out at 55kb/sec. So now they need to come out and see what the issue is.

Now lets be honest here, although it's a mess up I will be the first one to admit that firstly getting through at 6 am is great. calling back 15 minutes later is better. BUT the fault isn't resolved so we will see.

Another update:

Just when I was saying how great telkom were, their true colours come through. the line is still running at 512 I have been asked to run the "MyADSL", SAIX and telkom.co.za speed tests a thousand times. The guys do not understand that if it's syncing at the 4096 speeds that is could be running at 512. Any of you have any ideas? It looks like I have to get a technician out and physically show him on my PC.
