My dad got an upgrade to a GS2. He has a bunch of contacts on his phone and wants to transfer them to his Android.
I know of the Google Sync app, but its not working because it requires you use Blackberry internet (which he doesn't have).

Any ideas?

Is there any way he can sync them with Gmail contacts?

From there Android will automatically update the phone once connected via wifi or such.

There is a BB app called google sync that you use to transfer all your contacts. I did it the transfer from BB to android this week.

I'd be tempted to subscribe to a once off month of bis just so I could use google sync, provided of course he still has the blackberry. R59 is a small price to pay for that.

Only app i knew of that oculd do that was mylookout but they announced 2 months ago that they will no longer be supporting blackberry devices.

You could sync it with thunderbird using the bb desktop software and then sync them up with GSync for thunderbird, bit of a schlep but cheaper than R59. WOrks pretty well that TB pluggin, i use it all the time as i prefer to keep work and personal contacts separate as my cellphone is personal. Having all my contacts in 1 location for when working on a pc is however nice

He could always sync via outlook. First sync the BB with the PC and then sync to the Android. Otherwise the Google cloud sync will also work (but then you need to activate the BIS).

outlook would work, but some androids dont sync directly with it via cable, also thunderbird is free, no gaurantee he has outlook, if he did he probably would of known about cable sync already

outlook also does not sync with gmail for personal accounts o you would have to export to csv and then import to gmail.
