I have a user who needs to syncronise his e-mail between his Apple Mac & IPad.

He wants an e-mail which has been read on his Apple Mac to show as read on his IPad.

The specific e-mail account in question is POP3.

Does anyone know if this is this possible?!?

Is POP3 the only option? Doesn't the "ISP" or company have the ability to enable IMAP, for this will solve the problem. on IMAP, anything you do on the Ipad or Mac will be updated on the server.

Nobody in their right mind should in this day and age use POP3. Any ISP/mail service worth their salt should offer IMAP. And if they don't, then they're probably not updating other crucial parts of their e-mail service (such as security).

POP3 does not support syncronising whether a mail was read or not.

One way that you could do it:
- Create a GMail account
- Set up the GMail account in the email apps (iPad & Mail)
- Set up the GMail account to pull in the legacy POP3 mail
- USe this to gradually start moving away from the POP3 mail address towards the GMail.

^ This, or the long way round on the Mac... Mail/Preferences/Accounts (select the POP3 account)/Advanced and uncheck "Remove copy from server after reading a message"... That or select the delete from server after a week or a month options, depending on which works best. That way his messages will still be on the POP3 mail server for him to download on his iPad.
