Good, I hope more repercussions follow. Get rid of that maniac Assad and all his supporter scum.

After Houla massacre, Syrian diplomats expelled around the world
France, Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia are expelling Syrian diplomatic envoys. The response to the Houla civilian massacre is increasing Syria's isolation

Peace envoy Kofi Annan expressed "grave concern" to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday while Western nations threw out Syria's diplomatic envoys to protest against a massacre of 108 civilians, many of them children, in the town of Houla.

France, Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia said they were expelling the Syrian envoys from their capitals in a move that was coordinated with the United States and underlined Assad's diplomatic isolation.

The killings in Houla drew a chorus of powerful condemnation from around the world, with the United Nations saying entire families had been shot dead in their homes.

"Bashar al-Assad is the murderer of his people," French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told Le Monde. "He must relinquish power. The sooner the better." His Australian counterpart Bob Carr said: "This massacre of more than 100 men, women and children in Houla was a hideous and brutal crime."

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle expelled the Syrian ambassador on Tuesday and urged the U.N. Security Council to consider again its stance on Syria. "The Syrian regime is responsible for the terrible actions in Houla. Whoever there or elsewhere, violates the U.N. security council resolution by using heavy weapons against their own people must bear serious diplomatic and political consequences," Westerwelle said in a statement.

Canada said that the three remaining Syrian diplomats in Ottawa would be expelled. "Canada and our partners are speaking loudly, with one voice, in saying these Syrian representatives are not welcome in our countries while their masters in Damascus continue to perpetrate their heinous and murderous acts," oreign Minister John Baird said said in a separate news release.

Assad's government late on Monday denied having anything to do with the deaths, or even having heavy weapons in the area.

Western countries that have called for Assad to step down were hoping that the Houla killings would tip global opinion, notably that of Syria's main protector Russia, towards more effective action against Damascus.

Annan drew up a peace plan backed by the United Nations and the Arab League to steer a way out of the 14-month-old uprising against Assad. But six weeks after it was agreed by Damascus and the rebels, the bloodshed has barely slowed.

Annan told Assad of the "grave concern of the international community about the violence in Syria, including in particular the recent events in Houla", his spokesman Ahmad Fawzi said in a statement after two hours of talks in Damascus.

Oh my, what now killa? Does this mean that maybe it isn't all a Western conspiracy, and that maybe Assad is a brutal despot that needs to go?

Consider that Russia are backing the UN's plan and not Assad.

we are not following the west. We don't let us intimidate. We are making our own choice unlike the others.

SA wants to learn from syria about silencing non-ANC-sanctioned protest :-P

Yea the US's little bitches are doing it. They have been told so they do. Typical.

Of course russia has condemned the attack. Anyone would condemn it. It's horrific. I've said and i will say again, the day they remove the bahrain government instead of supporting them i will back the west until then they are sneaky people who do things that favour them, they care nothing for the people. When i see the EU remove mugabe instead of consider lifting his ban then perhaps i might be swayed.

And as such feed monsters like Assad our support and funds and condone the crimes they commit like the young kids they slaughtered and murdered. Thus we are complicit in Assads crimes.

You do not have to "Justify" your personal preferences and views anymore, I view all your posts with the disdain it deserves due to your lack of empathy for those murdered Syrian kids by supporting and defending those that committed the crimes. It's a shame really.

Yep, to this twit it's ok to kill a couple dozen/hundred kids because hell, Mugabe and Bahrain have not yet been touched by the evil west. Most lame and pathetic justification ever but par for the course really.

Wow where were you when the west was slaughtering innocent people in iraq?

How about nato yesterday killing 8 innocent people in afghanistan(yet to see a thread on those innocent murders), 6 children btw. How about the thousands injured or killed by drone strikes?

Yet now you feel so strongly for the deaths of innocent people. What a fking a joke. All i hear are excuses when the west slaughter thousands of innocent people, it's war, accident, they never intended to kill the people in the villages they bombed.

As usual some innocent deaths seem to attract far more attention than others, as usual two sets of rules. Some can kill innocent people and have people find excuses and those are accepted others are condemned. Of course dropping a bomb on a village will kill innocent people but wait no they never intended it to which means hey it was fine. Let's do it again over and over because hey people don't mind.

As you pro west okes always say, it's war innocent people will die. Isn't that the motto used around here for the thousands murdered by the west?

Even the UN are not sure who did this yet you guys are certain it was assad.

U.N. investigators have said they found tank and artillery shells in Houla after the attack, but stopped short of blaming regime forces for the killings.

Now tell me again how you can be so sure the syrian government did this if the UN are not even sure. The media has already spoken which means the sheep will believe whatever they see on cnn and co without actually wondering hmmm what really happened. Oooooooooooo look cnn said it so it must be true.

Once again a "qualified condemnation" from you. The day we see you actually just condemn something for being evil in and of itself without adding anything else to the mix is the day Hell freezes over. It's disgusting that anyone would even think of justifying this or using it as a bargaining chip in any way, shape or form.

Because the west has blood on their hands does not mean we can remain silent re any non-western rogue regime.

I don't see the slightest difference between Libya and Syria - and the time will come that the Syrian regime will meet the same bloody fate as Gaddafi and his henchmen.

The sooner the better.

.......... it's war innocent people will die. .......Even the UN are not sure who did this yet you guys are certain it was assad.

There are a big difference between war and actual committing International crimes by murdering civilians en-mass to retain minority rule, even under UN supervision. But I understand, it's beyond you to comprehend or grasp that concept.

Why. Only a few of those bodies where killed by shelling. Who did all the up close executions? I'm sure terrorists are trying to use the west to over throw another government.

Kiddy, I was busy with friends organising signatures to send to the American consulate in protest of the civilians being bombed, take your head out your arse and you may see that not all is as you think it to be ......... ****** person. Little keyboard warrior you, I'd bet thousands you have never done shyte in the real world because you come across as that much of a coward.

Can't wait to see Al Assad and that pretty little piece of pie that he calls a wife lying in the streets after the mob has gotten hold of them.

Russia and China at the time requested that direct blame be left out of the UN report. Read all the available information and comprehend buddy. Today the Russian government has changed their original views, WHY? They even said they do not stand with Assad but rather the Syrians.

Russia are playing at politics, don't be fooled.

The shabiha or Assad friends, a minority ethnic group or Alawites who's "leader" is running the country as a murderous tyrant. They are scared of the majority Sunnis' rule, I can now see why, their balls is in a vice.

According to the state-run news agency, SANA, Assad blamed terrorists and weapons smugglers for scuttling the peace plan. The regime denies there is any popular will behind the country's uprising, saying foreign extremists and terrorists are driving the unrest.
The new information provided by the U.N. draws attention to the role of the shabiha in 15 months of violence in Syria. Assad's government often deploys pro-regime thugs or armed militias to repress protests or carry out more military-style attacks on opposition areas.
They frequently work closely with soldiers and security forces, but the regime never acknowledges their existence, allowing it to deny responsibility for their actions.
A Syrian official denied again on Tuesday any involvement.
"It is irrational that any party who wants to make Annan's mission a success would ever commit such a massacre," Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad told reporters. He said Syria remained committed to Annan's plan and "had not committed a single violation."
Activists have posted videos of tanks and armored vehicles in the middle of cities, a violation of the plan, and U.N. observers said they found spent tank and artillery shells in Houla after the massacre there. Funeral videos also showed local rebels among the mourners — making it unlikely they carried out the killings.
Anti-regime rebels around the country regularly attack military convoys and checkpoints, killing soldiers.
Syria's international isolation deepened in response to the killings. Governments around the world expelled Syrian ambassadors and diplomats Tuesday, an unusual, coordinated blow to Assad's regime.
The United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands took action Tuesday against Syrian diplomats. Britain's foreign secretary said the countries involved in Tuesday's expulsions would also push for tougher sanctions against Syria.
Longtime Syrian ally Russia has largely stood by Damascus, although Moscow is growing increasingly critical — particularly over the Houla massacre. On Tuesday, however, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused unnamed countries of trying to use the Houla killings "as a pretext for taking military measures."
