What do I need to know to get this job?
• Matric & relevant tertiary Qualifications
• Technical Skills needed:
o Windows 8, 7 and XP
o Server 2003 and 2008
o Exchange Server
o SQL Server Back-ups
o Firewalls (ISA or TMG)
o Hardware Support
o Sharepoint
o CRM
o Active Directory experience
o Wordpress and or HTML
• 2-3 years experience with Desktop Support - Microsoft (Windows 7, XP), Exchange Server (basic skills – creating mailboxes, distribution groups) SQL Server back-ups, firewalls (ISA or TGM), troubleshoot hardware problems, User support for Sharepoint
• Projects: Assess business requirements, document these, source solution and implement solution
• Current Projects:
• Deploy active directory across 6 branches nationally
• Deploy security cameras
• Assess business requirements, implement new PBX system (external switching company – outsourced solution)
What will I do every day?
To ensure that all staff have the fully functioning technology to be as productive as possible. To recommend and suggest business tools or applications to improve productivity.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE:
Manage Backups – Change Backup tapes daily; check in the logs that previous backups completed successfully; restore a few files to ensure that backup drive is in good order”
Daily Server Checks - Check event viewer for errors; ensure sufficient disk space, check for updates and schedule these to install after hours; ensure anti-virus is up to date and operational
DESKTOP MAINTENANCE:
Induction: Prepare equipment for new users – this may be preparing a previous user’s machine or ordering a new machine. Creating an email address and account for the new user. Creating a telephone PIN code for the new user. Creating an email signature for the new user.
Maintaining and updating the company asset register.
Assisting all users by continually monitoring software for any user requests logged. Giving priority to urgent requests; resolving request and closing on the software.
Network: Ensure that all users are connected to the network – either via LAN and/or wireless. If needed, laying additional LAN cables or changing current LAN cabling to meet requirements. Maintaining wireless infrastructure.
CRM: Assist CRM users with any queries, pull “target invoice date” report on Fridays and email to users to have outdated “TIDs” updated.
CRS: Assist CRS (HR Software) users with login queries.
Orgboard: Update the web-based (Wordpress) organisational board with any staff or position changes.
