Hi

I'm looking for T5 fluorescent lights, anyone buy them recently and what prices are they going for.
Also the enclosure, what are they pricing. Not looking for anything fancy it can be cheapish as it will be used
for the garage workbench.

In my experience, your search will be as fruitful as this thread...

Give up and fit T8 until someone shakes up the market of incompetent, backward arsehole manufacturers, distributors and "retailers".

Why CFL and not LED?

Grab a T8 enclosure from builders and stick this in:

Otherwise, I've strung up these in one of my work spaces - it's amazing

with this as power supply (you can extend the pot outwards to your desk so you can control it like a dimmer - just be careful not to overdrive the strip)

Where are you?

In Johannesburg Zebbies in Randburg had them. They're not expensive, about 2 years ago I paid something like R200 for a 40cm/50cm light. They're sold as under cabinet kitchen lights so probably other kitchen places will stock them.

Dont worry OP- you can grow the weed just as well with T8s as you can with T5s

pfft u need high pressure sodium lights for weed, U will grow forever with fluorescent:D
Why t5? The extra upfront costs will never be recovered by the energy savings+longer life?

Replacements for the ceiling and for the workbench, figured why not go t5 as they last longer and are power friendly. Not that i'm worried about the cost of power, they are just better than t8's and thought they were about the same price, guess not.
