Tablet computing - A survey on peoples opinions

Hi guys,

You might have seen me post this in a couple of the other forums.

This year is "the year of the tablet", or so the media tell us. Following the release of Apples iPad, tablet computing has really started taking center stage with a small truck load of well-known companies coming to the party with their own gadgets. This year in particular seems set to be big for tablets.

But despite the marketing, it can be difficult to actually get a good understanding on what us SA consumers think about tablets specifically, and so, I've put together a basic survey to collect some feedback on this. I'm aiming to collect a thousand responses, and when I do, I will share the feedback to the survey with you here on MyBB (similair to how I did this for the Gaming survey I carried out several months ago!)

Should take roughly 2-3 minutes to complete, and is a dozen questions! Any feedback appreciated. Lets go 1000 responses! If you want to share this link in your Facebook/Twitter profiles to get added responses that would be pure awesome! So far I have collected just over a dozen responses, so alot more to go!

Do you mind sharing for which company you are conducting said market research?
 
i'm not actually collecting the information for any company. I'm doing it for personal interest sakes. If some compelling info comes to light I might do something about it, but for now I'm just curious to hear actual peoples thoughts and not those of the press on the subject.

I have 15 responses to far, and its surprising how many people (9) are from the Western Cape! Come on "rest of the country".
 
Nicely layed out questions, i trust the one from KZN will be interesting among the other answers ;-)
 
thanks :D Of 26 responses received so far, a whopping 3 are from KZN. 1 from Mpumalanga, and the rest from WC and GP, with WC still in the lead. This seems to be how it starts, and in a few hundred responses time, GP will take over :)
 
sitting at 30 responses this morning and looking for at least a couple hundred. Interesting to note the relatively low popularity of the iPad so far!
 
Locking yourself into a monopolistic ecosystem with no control over what you can do is not a popular pill to swallow!

you'd find it funny then that so far more than half of the people who have responded (46) dont agree with you on that ;) It's cool though - there are lots of thoughts put in there so far which is awesome. So far, people are factoring the Samsung Galaxy Tab into their purchasing choice more than any other brand that was listed.

Also the GP people are taking over with 43% of the vote. Also, so far there are only 3 female respondents. Proving once again that women are rare in hardware forums and the internet in general? ;)

Anywho, please share the survey where you can. Would like to power through a couple hundred responses if at all possible!

I think if the Samsung Tab was lower in price we all would have had one already. I did fill in your survey yesterday ;) Ipad is just a runner up IMHO :p
 
actually iPad isn't even the runner up :P The Xoom is, so far. The Galaxy tab is in the lead and the iPad is a distant 3rd!

48 responses as of this morning and things are slowing down. Anyone have any ideas on where else the survey could be posted to get some more feedback? Deifnitely slower going than the gaming survey i did which at the same time had around 100 responses!

Just remember it's almost end of the month at most places, so people are probably working (deadlines etc.).

Give it another bump over the weekend and see if you get better feedback.
 
fair point, and done :) 50 responses, so yesterday was a pretty slow day :P
 
I hope that people are not confusing the 7" galaxy tab to the 10.1" or 8.3"

62 responses :P Lets shoot for 200. 1000 seems a bit unreasonable at this pace.
