Tablet for high school

I know someone that desperately needs a tablet for their son for school that starts next week. My mom gave them her tablet to use until they can get one but it does not meet the requirements:

Android 4.0
1 GB RAM
1.2 Dual Core CPU

If anyone knows where I can get one as cheap as possible, please advise

Have you looked at the Vodacom Smart Tab 2 3G which sells for around R900. The offer below includes the Smart Tab 2 tablet, a gel case (usually R150) and a screen protector (usually around R50) and R300 airtime. You can also check current prices at Pick n Pay, HiFi Corp, Game, www.guzzle.co.za etc.

Here are some offers from Game. It would be advisable to drop in at one of their stores to test out the different tablets as the screen quality varies. I found the picture quality of the Telefunken 10" a bit fuzzy and bought the more expensive Vodacom Power Tab 10s instead.

The Smart Tab 2 3G has the same processor as the Lenovo Tab 3 Essential but less internal storage, 8 vs 16GB. The screen quality might be slightly better on the Lenovo and it has a bigger battery 3450mAh vs 2580mAh but it does not support 3G like the Smart Tab 2. They may also need to purchase a case/screen protector.
