I was looking at Tablet PC's and I saw some with nice features but the internal memory was 256mb. The storage is from 1G up to 32Gig with SD cards.

Is 256mb low if you want to download a small game on a Tablet PC? What happens when you want to download e-books to this type of Tablet with a 256mb memory?

265 seems a bit low. But basic games should work fine.

Do you know if it running android or something else?

256mb is low but if you can upgrade it with an SD card not that bad
Hope Wayne reads this correctly. Memory is not upgradable on any of the tablets I've come across. Storage should be upgradeable via SD card.

Wayne, do you perhaps have the make/model of the tablet? We should be able to give better advise if we had a look at the specs first.

too little for what? how would a machine like that perform as it stands there now with 56mb ram?

Just had a look at my phone; with no games etc. running around 260MB of RAM is being used by stuff running in the background. That could obviously be reduced, but still.

why would they make as tablet that connects to the web and is an e-reader etc yet only has 256mb ram?

Many of these android tablets require an sd card for a lot of applications to run properly. They will not let you access documents/ebooks saved on the internal memory. Only on an sd card.

'Aldiko' eReader app, the Android 'Gallery' app and 'Documents to Go' are examples. You can only open files stored on an sd card. If no sd card is present then you're out of luck. 256MB is ridiculous though, but even if you had more internal storage you would still need an sd card.

The tablets with VIA chipsets should be avoided! Rockchip chipsets besides the RK2918 are also cr#p. I'd recommend a tablet with either a Telechips tc8803, Freescale cortex a8, Samsung sv210 or Amlogic aml8726 a9 chipset if you are looking at budget Android tablets/eReaders.

aah ha so if you download you would do it to the card (that's why they give you one with your purchase) and you would just run it off the 256ram?

I had a look at the $99 (could not find specs on the $75 one) one here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Velocity-...-OS-4GB-SD-Card-Bundle/19392635#ProductDetail

It comes with 4GB storage and another 4GB SD card, 256MB RAM and a 528MHz CPU.

It seems slow but sort of okay depending on the use... Have a look at it on youtube:

Its slow and does not come with the Andriod market pre-installed. Also not sure if basic games like angry birds will run on it. In one of the other videos on youtube a guy said he could not get it to run.

I went through the videos and then when i wanted to reply to this I could not get on the forum. I see that the machine is sluggish and although I like them as gadgets using one without a keyboard to do work on really sucks. It seems we get a better performance from a laptop with issues then a new Tablet.

I see there are allot of apps that work and that don't work but even if you had to download some working apps i think it would interfere with the performance. Like the guy in the video said "you get what u paid for".
