Hi

Im urgently looking for recommendations for a tablet, preferably 10" but not less than 8 inch

Minimum specs are:
32GB Rom
2GB Ram

Budget 3k for 8", 4k for 10"
It can be wifi only.

The two Im looking at are:

What other recommendations? No imports please - yes i know connected devices is an import but i dont need to handle it

I like the Lenovo Tab4 TB-X304 10.1" LTE + Wi-Fi Tablet. Generally priced from about R2999

Honestly Android tablets aren't great, they never seem to get updated either. Maybe look at a cheaper iPad?

They are great because they are familiar to anyone who likes and uses android phones, and if you choose a midrange and up tablet, they do get updated regularly - for example my Samsung Tab A 2016 got an Oreo update this year

Oreo came out in 2017

There's a Chinese Tablet Buyer's Guide thread somewhere here. If I were buying a new Android tablet at this point I'd probably go with one of those.

The Oreo got a 2019 security update - it was installed earlier...
Still an old OS, which is the issue with Android in general not only limited to tablets. My nokia 8 won't get Android Q but will still get a few more months of security updates.

I am very happy with the many years of updates I get on my Redmi and Mi Xiaomi Android phones

I don't get the obsession with continual updates. I have a 2016 tab a and it can still do everything I want it to

Security updates are more important than functionality.

From time to time you hear about exploits being discovered and patched, but if your device doesn't get updates then it's still vulnerable. The severity of this depends on the user and the use though.

Yes, I agree with security patches. These come through frequently. The comments earlier on the thread were about OS that is a year or two old

I had a Hisense tablet which got security updates only about once per quarter. Never updated the OS, stayed on Android 6 forever. My current Nokia 8 gets them roughly monthly, and has gone from 7 to 8 to 9 in the time I've owned it. Different vendors have different support levels I guess...

The main purpose of the tablet will be ebooks reading and news apps.thanks for the advice so far

If you up the budget a bit I can help with a Samsung Tab s4 256gig LTE.
