Hi everyone, is the Surface Pro available anywhere in SA?

My Aunt wants to get a tablet and I said that the Surface looked pretty good but I'm not sure where to find it...

Alternatively if you have any other recommendations for a tablet?

The Surface Pro is more of an ultrabook. I'm not too sure if there are any local distributors but it will probably cost close to R20k which is not really in tablet territory.

I just bought a Surface RT and despite the naysayers - i'm thoroughly enjoying the experience. Owned a Galaxy Tab, IPad and Asus Transformer - so i'm familiar with the other offerings. Ease of use - IPad for sure. Customization Factor - Android for sure. Just plain down being different and a new fresh interface - Surface Tab wins hands down for me.

Agreed. The surface pro is going to be very expensive. Haven't heard of anything locally.

You should rather look at the surface RT, which is more of a traditional tablet than the pro, which is a complete computer.

The Samsung equivalent, the Ativ Pro is available in limited numbers.

It's a decent unit, i5 processor. They are expensive though. Apparently they are available through Rectron.

The samsung seems quite good.

On second look it seems that Windows RT will probably be sufficient. Any other Windows Tabs worth looking at that are available.

Can't even seem to find the surface RT.

I would also recommend you look at the iPads. I have had mine for a while now and it really is a great device with an excellent selection of quality apps. Only thing I have against it is that is a little bit heavy, hope the new iPad that comes out is thin like the iPad mini - I would definitely get a new one then.
