So where does one get a tablet these days? I am not that bothered with brand and will even consider a good Chinese knock off with descent specs.

I have of course been to all 3 our wonderful mobile providers and none of them have stock and that new vodafone 7" thing is a piece of crap.

So where can i look, does anyone have sources, ideas. Would be nice if i could get on contract, otherwise maybe 2k price range.

Look for a Nexus 7, with that price range probably second hand and you won't go wrong.

Carbonite

Not one of the networks has a single tablet in stock? Interdasting...

Oh...

Yeah second hand is your best bet. For that price any new tablet would be crap. The Nexus 7 was by far the best value for money. Which is why you can't find them anymore.

If you bank with FNB get the 7" Lenovo for R99 per month.

1. How big is your phone?
2. What is your projected use for the device?

My experience is 7" is too small for alternate usage, especially the way the devs/google play treat it as a tablet. It's way too small to handle google's current obsession with conversation view in landscape mode.

Interesting to know thanks.

I will then look at a 10 inch. I have a note 4, but find it a bit too small (yes small) to read books and magazines and with all the power outages lately to watch movies etc...

So will see, i did go to one of the Vodashops close to me and they might be able to get me a Lenovo ideapad, which seems ok for the price. Otherwise might jump ship and get an ipad ;)

10" with a 1280x800 resolution is pants. You will be better off with a 7" tablet.

BlackJack, PM sent with info if you are keen for Lenovo IdeaPad A10 10.1 Multitouch Ultrabook PC.
