blackberry playbook

lol, hmm, I wonder if google will have the answer?

Yeah they ripped of the iPad so they should be able to do books. What good's a tablet without books?

Sarcasm aside yeah there are hundreds of thousands of Android apps, I'm sure you get a book app

Short Answer: All the Android tablets can load anything you want them too .... anything.

BUT there's a better way to think about the problem of ebooks on Android tablets.

Long Answer:
I cannot comment on the single option in your list which I have not personally used namely the Playbook but for the remainder which are all Android based. I would say the HTC Flyer if you can get one but the new Galaxy 10inch is enticing and then there's the ASUS EEPAd transformer (comes with a keyboard docking station...) for which you can get a WIDE number of e-book reading applications.

However I would recommend that you use the multi-platform ebook librarian program called "Calibre" to translate all your ebooks to a single format and you need only one of these ebook reading programs. (http://calibre-ebook.com/) it's free and donations to the developer for this excellent tool are highly recommended.

Then with Calibre to perform the cross-conversion, you can then select the reading program with the best features and ease of use rather than be trapped using several different programs for each of the different formats with their own idiosyncrasies.

Recommended in order of preference:
1. FBREADER (Free) for Android allows you to read .epub format and few others too. <- EPUB is my favourite format and not co-incidentally its the native format the iPad uses too.
(I do trade epubs with my iPad using friends because: Real geeks don't fight over what flavour their e-penis is... really come now.)

2. Adobe PDF reader for Android (yes also depressingly so: Free too) for a VERY good / best reader for all your PDF files. (pr0n / graphic novels included)

3. The Kindle application for Android (also Free) allows one to buy and read books from Amazon's Kindle service.

Then there's a veritable VAST ocean of other ebook reading and such programs available on the Google market and the vast majority of which are all also depressingly free to use and abuse as desired.

Have fun!

Oh man I love you :)

If you have an iPad I'd recommend using Stanza as the default reader. If you have an Android device I'd say Aldiko is the best reader I've found. But yea you can read ebooks on pretty much ANYTHING - even old Symbian phones have Mobipocket Reader. It's just down to what offers the best experience for you, and I'd say personally rather go for a 7" tablet form for reading on since 10 is just too much to hold comfortably and read esp standing up.

Looking at the http://za.zinio.com/ Android app on my tablet and I must admit if I place my iPad next to the Transformer for reading magazines the 10" screen is much better as I dont need to "scroll" my magazines in portrait mode. I can not imagine trying to use it on a 7"

Depends on the nature of the reading I guess. If the resolutions are the same it wouldn't matter that much though - I read full length comics on my 4.3" HD2 screen in Android and it works fine for me but a bigger screen would offer a better experience. But for plain text epubs and so on I'd still advocate 7' screen size. I get a wrist ache using an ipad for extended reading.

Out of those I'd take the HTC Flyer. That scribe functionality is realy useful.

I am also interested in the Prestgio Multipad. Did anyone try it out?

I saw this on Computer Mania website

Go to page 54 of the "Monthly Catalog May"
(sorry can't find the link in FLASH)

Good review with vids of the PMP5080B Tablet

Not to bad for the price as the main Prestigio.com site have ICS ready for upgrade

If you want affordable go for either the Kindle Fire ($200) or the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus ($250). If you get the KF you'll need to root it and preferably just flash a stock rom but I have Android ICS 4.0.4 running beautifully on mine now, with hardware UI and everything. It's really a good experience. Lesser tabs will skimp on the display, which is where you really don't want to compromise if reading is your thing. The Kindle app for ICS is lovely - very smooth paging.
