I would also like to know if any1 is playing this game and how is it for you guys? Im REALLY REALLY keen but worried that im not going to like it or the ping is too bad or and or and or.

Some1 please review personally.
 
So far it seems that SeanH is the only one playing it as yet.
 
Hi ya :)

The SO and I have been playing it since the weekend, awesome stuff first off. :D We picked up copies in-store from Budget Technology in Northgate so if you are close, check them out.

We found the ping information in the game not to be 100% accurate, on the US servers it is between 500 and 800 (running around) but it doesn't feel laggy. On the EU server it is between 250 and 700 but also no bad lag, we do on occasion get a lag spike but that has so far been two since friday and lasted a few seconds.

As you guys don't know me (first time posting and all lol), I am gonna list the mmo's I have played to kinda give an indication/comparison. SWG, EQ2, Anarchy Online, DDO, The Saga of Ryzom. To me the game so far has a great amount of the questing from EQ2, the action of SWG with a feel of Starship Troopers thrown in. I keep expecting to hear "I am doing my part...are you?" ;) Very fast-paced but so much fun! And of course....you get to shoot stuff :D I was getting very sick of swords, elves and such like.

Something I have really enjoyed so far, if any of you have played Star Wars Galaxies you'll get this: When the enemy (Bane) tries to take over an area the rush feels very much like the assault on the village in SWG. Bad guys every where, players trying to kick butt and take the area back. Oh and still this gets a bit laggy but you don't freeze up and can't move, we could run away/fight without any problems.
 
Tnx K_S, helpful info, but what conn do you have and what acc? I agree with the hole gun wearing thing, its the same as Hellgate London, but the servers on HGL has delay on them unless you have unshaped then i guess it wil be fine
 
I've been playing the game for the past week, and I've got to say I am quite impressed. They've definitely done a great job with supporting us under-privileged South Africans as there is very little noticeable lag, it made me kinda wonder how did they do it?! I mean it's an RPG in FPS skin, and unless you have a good unshaped account, anything with 'FPS' in its title is hard to play on overseas servers. With my normal shaped account, I am able to fully enjoy this game.

Anyways, I also wanted to find out whether there are any South African clans yet as it does get quite hard in later missions and I wouldn't mind having some online buddies to do them with :)
 
LOL where is the SO for techie details...as far as I understand it we have unshaped, 512 dsl. I hope that made sense...
 
512 kb/s, unshaped, makes sense 2 me... if you have unshaped its awesome for international gaming, but i have a 384 shaped Saix... abit diff but as madg said he doesnt have 2 much lag ons his shaped acc... maybe ill check it out... im a big fan of all rpg games. I love playing support, as in medic :P
 
Play the game and plz give feedback... if the feedback turns out good you might c Jabulaniboy logging in the EU servers :D

Ingame name: Zang (lvl 22)... on the Centaurus (EU) server. I'm part of a clan atm (that some friends of mine in the UK are in) and will leave it to join the ZA one. But i'll have to wait 7 days before i can join another clan.
