Tahrir Square protest LIVE

Why are you blaming the military? The brotherhood won the vote by a 2% margin, they are refusing to co-operate with other parties and there is no constitution in place yet. Bit early for them to be celebrating a "victory". The military just want them to follow procedure.

Sounds from news reports that the military is busy entrenching itself and making sure that any incoming president is no more than a ceremonial figure head.

Do you blame them when the next president will most likely come from the mob bunch that is the Muslim brotherhood? :D

It's how elections work and that's what the people of Egypt want. They get the president they deserve however loony.

You mean it's what 52% of Egyptians want... ;)

Isn't that about how close the presidential race in America is? Yet the army there don't go about stripping yhe president of his powers. He still gets to be commander un chief. It's actually a potentially stronger democracy than the ANC hegemony here.

Uh yeah... but if the republicans were voting against the Muslim Brotherhood Party in the USA... I guarantee you they army would be called out! :D

Naaa gary, if you want a democratic country then accept the results.

The army is still influenced by western power if you ask me. I can tell you now egypt could land up like syria only this time you won't be shouting intervention gary. It will get interesting though.

Muburak is also dead last i heard. Egypt is screwed though, the dictator keeping the peace was removed. It's a trend you see in many countries. The only question i guess is whether the dictator has support from the west or not.

I have sympathy for the kids who will bare the brunt of the Egyptian turmoil.

So you are fine with democracy as long as people vote for those you like :) haha. You would get on well with one Vlad Putin ;)

uh sorry... but where exactly did I say anything about my own feelings about democracy?

I was simply stating a fact about what would most likely happen in another country, but I gave no moral comment on whether that was acceptable or not.

Jump to conclusions much?

You implied it gary

The only thing I implied is that the Republicans in the USA would not allow a Muslim party to win control even with 52%.
... and that's exactly what the military in Egypt is doing.

Please tell me what else I implied, because I would also like to know.

Errrm how about this, did you forget you posted that?

Geez had this been an anti west country you would be crying like a baby about how democracy needs to work and it should be accepted but it's the muslim brotherhood and you dislike them so it's cool to let the military try and crush democracy.
