i really see no advantage to it. only many disadvantages. eg. i cant share images on it with friends just bcoz some other dude is downloading from rapidshare. TAKE IT DOWN you ibust incompetent fools!

I agree the transparent proxy is a very annoying.
Why do we need it?

I had the same crap with rapidshare, but found a good way around it just use a local proxy and the problems go away or get http tunnel :) But i still agree they need to get rid of that DAMN TRANSPARENT PROXY! even megaupload gives trouble

196.25.255.4 8080 try this one worked for me, just now and then it gives trouble but most of the times works fine

A transparent proxy can save up to 50% on bandwidth due to caching content. That's why they do it.

Why don't you cheap asses buy a Rapidshare.de account. It's like R80 for a month? I have one.

transparent proxy

just moved from jhb to cape town with my iburst and I'm happy to say there NO transparent proxy down here :) Rapid share works each time......

and deliver the content a little bit faster because it comes from a local server but i am sure telkom has found a way to mess that one up for us

Crash, i have never seen any successful header returned from the transparent proxy (cache-01.jhb.wbs.co.za) only CACHE MISS

Http tunnel

The-One, u mentioned tunneling. I've heard about tunneling, but not sure how to make it work...

Do u use HTTP Tunneling? Doesn't the software have that cap of 1.5?
Is there any free tunneling software/servers that I can use?

I just downloaded ProxySwitcher and for some reason it work. Can i connect to any server, or does it need to be a local server?
I connect to the server, but when i go to (www.whatismyip.com) it remains the same as the transparent one!
