Hey all,

Not sure if anyone else managed to jump on the bandwagon when Takealot slipped up and posted an HD 8 Channel 720p Wireless IP Camera System for R490 odd?
Well I did and ordered 4 sets as the their system said stock available. But after 2 weeks they have now emailed me telling me the supplier is now out of stock but if you look on Takealot they have corrected the price to R4950 and stock is available.

What chance do I stand throwing my weight and going the CPA route against them? Surely I should be granted my order?

Any thoughts...

Going from past discussions here, I don't think you'll get much support for a company having to honour a mistake like this. Maybe for one, but to swallow a R4460 * 4 loss? Unlikely.

I think they cover themselves regarding this in their T&C's, so not much you can do unfortunately.

Yes they do...

And what protection does the CPA offer you in this case? (with your weight of course)

Dorpie, can you imagine the therapy you would need to repair your conscience when Takealot goes belly-up because you insisted on your 'rights' after their albeit stupid mistake? Not to mention having to face the wrath of pretty much all of us who use Takealot now and then?

They had every right to cancel and CPA is on their side here as any reasonable person would see the price was too good to be true and your initial reaction to purchase four also shows you knew this was way below market value.

Having worked for Takealot until recently I can tell you that they source from different suppliers. Also was this a third party marketplace seller as they are prone to screwing up their pricing as TAL has no knowledge of their cost price for pricing checks.

Anyway, call their call centre.

Its so good, so true and not a fault at all let me take 4x to be sure of it :sneaky:

I am done with Take a Lot, they have cancelled items in my last 8 orders, stating the item is not available. Then to see the next day the item is back for R100 more. Checking yesterdays cancellation, the supplier has not changed the price, its available on other sites for less. Used to be great but service is now shocking. Really only use it for the convenience, will be doing a bit more homework on items, no longer my default search for goods. So yeah, I agree that the price was too good to be true on the OP, but when they have been cancelling items for R100?
