Taking a 25k loan for a pc.

we are all prone to do stupid things at times. this would be one of those times.

Keeper - if you can afford it why not?

if you need to make a 5 year load, you can't.

if you can however, why not.

my PC costs were about 25k last year, but that's including a 10k screen
(the op wants to spend that on the case alone  )

it's just better to upgrade every year/two years, then buy 1 system to last 5 years.

Does it not make more sense to buy a high end PC once, and then replace whatever needs replacing as you go along?

No. I believe in buying where the price/performance sweet spot is. It's usually at the point just before there is a big jump in price when looking at the next model up for most components. I use this as a base to upgrade from later on so i always stay within that sweet spot.

I think you'll find that that's what most of us would do. But I was asking the OP seeing as he absolutely wants to go high end.

Dude seriously a 25k pc is over rated.

In 2 years you pc is old news and cannot handle new games :D, upgrade in steps man not all at once.

If you think all those parts are going to last 5 years then you have problems.

To be in that kind of debt for a pc is nuts. Cash is king.

Mate of mine took out a huge loan to get a mac book which he didn't really need and certainly couldn't afford, but he still gotta pay it every month.

Yeah upgrading is done component by component. That's the fun way. Start small and work your way up. Buy yourself something as a treat occasionally. It becomes a hobby you tinker with all the time. If I spent 25k at once on a PC i'd get bored quickly with it.

I've got a solution!

Purchase from overseas.
try duck and dive the customs ;)

that 25k pc will only cost you about 16k (I'm dead serious)

and besides, the Bank's interest rates are MUCH higher than you quoted

What if something breaks?

Warranties are usually only for 2 years.

I might be biased because I don't like borrowing money, so I would say, rather do it the other way around. Save R450/month in an interest bearing account and buy a new pc every x years.

+1 Best advice ever!

Dude, get a loan for a 25k PC. Get a Loan for a Audi TT and live your life. But wait, you could save 5k a month for some time. 7 months down the line you took your dog for a walk and a car crushed you, bah, all savings for nothing. Up to you :D
