Hi all,

Forgot what it's called when you take a break from work and go on a "walk-about"/holiday. Next year or the year after I'm looking to leave work for 6 months or so to travel and see the world kinda thing.
Has anyone done this before and how hard was it to find work when they returned.
Places that are friendly to travellers? Thailand and Amsterdam/Poland are on the list. Might pass through Japan for a month or so aswell but that's all I have planned at the moment. Looking at all this now so I can plan budget's and all that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Aren't you a professional photographer? That's pretty much a sabbatical all the time.

I took one for two years just to get away from the life I was living. I was single so that was okay. It was life changing, and I really miss the times I had. Spent a lot of time doing voluntary work, and about six months doing work for R1500 a month. As I said, an eye opener, and at times hard, but really really worth it.

When I arrived back my old boss offered me a job, so I was lucky.
