Tales from Iraq

Gee I wonder which story the MSM will grab and run with :o

Oh wait lookie here.

http://www.mudvillegazette.com/
Wait, alan I'm not sure what you're trying to say? Are you pointing to the mudville gazette as a member of this Mainstream Media you keep talking about?*

FWIW I haven't seen either your thread-starting story or this one in anything that could remotely be called "the MSM".

I hope for their sake it doesn't turn out like that guy who "signed up" and proceed to tell tall tales of soldier savagery only for it to immerge that it was all lies.Turned out he was a flaming moonbat all along telling his buddies his little plan before hand. Dumbass :o

A statement from the author: here

______________________________________________
*alan, this is a joke.

My pieces were always intended to provide my discrete view of the war; they were never intended as a reflection of the entire U.S. Military. I wanted Americans to have one soldier's view of events in Iraq.

Bwhahaha how ironic that guys like this always come up with that  Reminds me of John "support the troops/troops are idiots" Kerry. Why can't the guy just be honest :o

It's been maddening, to say the least, to see the plausibility of events that I witnessed questioned by people who have never served in Iraq.

How about fellow soldiers http://thisainthell.us/blog/2007/07/26/scott-thomas-beauchamps-****house-scribe/

Anyway a few factoids on this chum

We do know that Beauchamp worked on Howard Dean's presidential campaign, that he edited a liberal student magazine in college, and that he marched with pro-choice demonstrators in 2004. Further, we know that he enlisted in the military "just to write a book" about his experience--not the noblest of reasons, but neither does it discredit his work. Writing under a pseudonym, though, did prevent readers from understanding that his perspective was not merely that of a soldier on the ground, but of a political activist.

Oh no this sounds familiar :o

Glenn is completely submerged in politics on campus. It is honestly impossible to think about politics at MU without thinking of Glenn,” says Scott Beauchamp, editor-in-chief of Prospectus, a liberal campus news magazine. Beauchamp and Rehn met one year ago while campaigning for Howard Dean.

Not looking good....

*WARNING* Images of "rabid woman raping child killers, dog shooters, child skull wearers....."

So if you can't handle "positive" news look away now. Wouldn't want an overdose of reality making you  now do we :D

HIRSEN: Operation Iraqi Children (http://www.operationiraqichildren.org/) is such a wonderful concept. We have many readers who would like to show their support for the military. Why do you think that this is a good way for people to do that?

SINISE: Well, Jim, I've tried to, I've been very concerned and tried to keep Operation Iraqi Children as neutral a program as possible. I don't really go out and talk about my political views. I don't do a lot of criticizing of things, banging, slamming people, because Operation Iraqi Children, no matter what my political views are or anything like that, that's not what this program is.

I believe that these kids are the future of Iraq, and so many in that part of the world have been raised to think bad things about Americans or bad things about Western culture.

I'm actually in touch with Iraqis over there who are totally supportive and totally behind the United States being there and the coalition being there, and completely appreciative of the possibilities that they have now because of what has happened in the last two or three years.

Moonbats? Is this a pattern? How come practically every post (from you) contains insulting language, derogatory comments? Does this reflect your inner reality of spite for other people and perhaps an answer to you own shortcomings?

The troops can go home any time. They have been asked on more than one occasion.

Iraqi prime minister says U.S. troops can go 'anytime they want'
He sharply criticized the U.S. military, saying it was committing human rights violations and embarrassing the Iraqi government through such tactics as building a wall around Baghdad's Sunni neighborhood of Azamiyah and launching repeated raids on suspected Shiite militiamen in the capital's slum of Sadr City.

He also criticized U.S. overtures to Sunni groups in Anbar and Diyala provinces, encouraging former insurgents to join the fight against al Qaeda in Iraq. "These are gangs of killers," he said.

In addition, he said that al-Maliki has problems with the top U.S. commander, Gen. David Petraeus, who he said works along a "purely American vision."

Your language is a reflection of the common brutality of Iraq (yes bringing them democracy.)

'A dead Iraqi is just another dead Iraqi... You know, so what?'
Interviews with US veterans show for the first time the pattern of brutality in Iraq
By Leonard Doyle in Washington
Published: 12 July 2007

That perception will take a severe knock today with the publication in The Nation magazine of a series of in-depth interviews with 50 combat veterans of the Iraq war from across the US. In the interviews, veterans have described acts of violence in which US forces have abused or killed Iraqi men, women and children with impunity.

The report steers clear of widely reported atrocities, such as the massacre in Haditha in 2005, but instead unearths a pattern of human rights abuses. "It's not individual atrocity," Specialist Garett Reppenhagen, a sniper from the 263rd Armour Battalion, said. "It's the fact that the entire war is an atrocity."

Look in the mirror.

I think you need to look in the mirror. Perhaps a count of how many times you've called somebody "troll, idiot, fascist" or told them to shut up :o

What and leave the Iraqi's at the hand of the "Freedom fights" to blow them up dozens at a time

As for those "50" I guess that's part of 13000 odd people who populate the "rest of the world" you were telling me about a while ago

Add them up. I'm sure your fascist labels reign far supreme.

Freedom fighter implies a fight for freedom; invader implies an enemy.

Pity its the US supporting these "gangs of killers."

But then are you even interested in the difference?

What 13000 odd people?

Yeah I have 40 posts with the word "Fascist". Didn't see any calling anybody Fascist though. Most was just sarcasm aimed at your use of the word :D

You on the other hand used it in 71 posts mostly labeling people 'Fascist" :o

Could post the links but I wouldn't want to embarrass you further

*Don't go deleting posts now ;)*

*sigh*

You moonbats are resilient if nothing else. Not enough having the MSM bleating it out. I guess you have to tell yourself repeatedly. If you tell yourself over and over you'll convinve yourself reality needn't apply :o
I'm afraid that in this case, you're the moonbat. You cling to one or two little stories as if it is the golden truth while totally ignoring the mountain of contradictory evidence.

And then you blame MSM, saying they have an agenda to skew the facts towards an anti-war slant.

Missing your tinfoil hat, perhaps? :o

So if the Iraqis are fighting for the Americans to leave so they can an impose a Taliban style Sharia regime - is that freedom?
There's nothing that America can do to stop that. They don't have popular support and so they're going to be attacked indefinately until they withdraw. It's a classic war of attrition.

America's doing more damage than good. The longer they stay, the more they radicalise the local population, and the greater the chances, when they finally leave, that a religious theocracy springs up in its place.

There are other options, like working with Syria, or, god forbid, Iran, but it seems that the US is absolutely unwilling to consider these alternatives.

One or two  Perhaps you need to go look again through my posts. There's no "mountain of evidence" :o. Of course completely unsubstantiated mumblings of a "soldier" who happened have links with extremist lefties who joined the army to "write a book" as evidence

I could always just borrow yours.

Tell that to the Iraqi's who are relying on the Americans for protection from the Jihadis who I might add are invaders. They fell for your "they're freedom fighters here to protect you form the imperialist Christian pigs" mentality and found out first hand what the Jihadis offer. Taliban style oppression, blowing and beheading kids. So much so that know the Iraqi's have joined forces with Americans to kick them out in various areas. Your ilk mislead them and they've paid the price . They now know what the Americans offer is far better then the Jihadis.

I made my comment in response to alanf's evocation of the words "freedom fighter." I was not 'necessarily' implying 'they' were fighting for freedom.

Regarding Sharia Law: no to my senses 'that' is not freedom however you need to look to the evocation, as follows: from my reading of this forum and elsewhere many of you support aspects of sharia law; eye for an eye, death penalty, even torture (in support of GB's war on terror.) Also 'allies' of this conflict themselves practise 'sharia law' so we cannot point to this as any reason to 'be bringing them democracy and freedom.'

(Further) we should realise that 'freedom and rights,' are not a 'god-given.' Every single freedom and right has been fought for from serf rights to woman rights to gay rights. If we wish to have a discussion about rights then let's have that discussion in a suitable environment: not down the barrel of a gun (while we bring them 'freedom.')

The very rights and freedoms you espouse are being [-]eroded[/-] destroyed by the bush, blair, brown government (in their war of terror, for freedom.) Yes, freedom and rights are a casualty but here you stand "defending freedom."

What a sad, sick joke.
