Hey guys I'm due for an upgrade on a Talk240 and I want some advice on what to get.

Been a Nokia man all my cellphone using life but Symbian is dead end so I need to go somewhere else.
iPhone 4...well that's EOL basically...not to mention I'd rather transpose the data between phone and PC myself in 1s and 0s and than use iTunes. I know IOS5 which culls the iTunes lockin is coming but still. And waiting for the 5 is a no no since I can't wait till Febuary 2013 (I know the 5 is coming sooner but the last had a super long waiting list and I don't exect this to be any different.)

So that basically just leaves Droids.
Any advice about which one to go for?

Currently thinking the SE Xperia Neo since it's 8MP cam though mid-range is still better than any 5MP (and I already have 5MP in my current 6710 Navigator so ideally I want more, not more of the same) and as far as I know I can't get anything better on a Talk240 without additional pay-in or increased monthly costs (please let me know if that's wrong). And then add the shutter key and it's size which is adequate yet still portable unlike the 4.3" phones (though if I could get the 4.3" Arc I'd get that) and it's just plain better than most other droids in my opinion

Ideally I want the keyboard version, the Xperia Pro, but who knows when or even if that will get to SA and if it arrives whether it will be available on this contract for free.

Anything else I should be looking at? Anybody know anything about the Pro and SA availability in the future? Anything severely wrong with the Neo? Any other advice?

Get the SGS2. End of your dilemma.

I would but the SGS2 has 3 problems.

Most exepensive phone around, so expensive that you have to pay in on every Vodacom contract including the best ones and the Talk240 is only in the middle somewhere so that means something like a 3K pay-in.
The phone is BIG, I mean big to the point that though slim it's not exactly at home in a pocket.
No hardware shutter key for the Cam.

The new Crapberry is going at Vodacom for almost R8000, making the SGS2 almost a steal. :p

True there. I never noticed cuz I didn't even bother looking at any Blackberries.

Without increasing the monthly pay in? That sounds rather unbelievable, I checked and even the old Galaxy still has about 1K pay-in or R40 or increase in monthly charges, nevermind the new one.

You are correct. I do pay extra in per month. Not sure how much (R100 or so). I realised this after posting earlier.
