Is it at all possible to connect 2 datacards( or for that matter multiple) i.e. lets e172's to "server" (running what ever linux/ OS X WS2003) connect both to the net and run the server as a proxy and dhcp for multiple users ?

I know Windows can do this, you just have to enable MultiLink and select more than one modem in the dial-up networking connection, it works very well.

The problem is that your ISP needs to support MultiLink as well, v3g otu. :)

The radio network is shared by all users for Internet access. You do not have an "exclusive" pipe of 7.2Mb/s for each datacard. If you use 2 datacards (with SIM cards from the same operator), they will most likely use the same base station and you will not notice a significant improvement in speed. If someone else also uses the base station you will also notice a decrease in speed.

If one datacard has a Vodacom SIM card and the other has a MTN SIM card then each datacard will use a different base station and you would get better performance than one datacard, but this is also dependent on how many other users are sharing each base station with you.
