Morning Guys

My Next project seeing that my Last one is almost level 73 :p and the DK was a complete let down :(

I need some help with Paladin stats rotations and Builds. Firstly I will be going Protection Spec for tanking from 1 - 80. So pls no "respc Retribution" in this thread :o

So far I have figured out my tanking will be based on:

+90% Threat via Holy damage
Consecration (SP)
And Hammer of Justice or the one that gives Mana instead.

Currently this is my main rotation:
Consecration + Hammer of Justice (Not much to work with yet) And the Mobs stick on me like glue.

It's obvious I'll have to build on Stamina, but what else ?

Intellect ? (This could help :o)
Strengh ? (More white damage)
Agillity ?
Spirit ? (Mana regen)

I have no clue as to what is needed by a Tankadin

Get to 60-70 first ;)
Most tankadin rotations only start then. How you get to that level is up to you. I leveled as a retridin before they got buffed to godmode, and even then I found it quite easy.

I like to level the build I'll be playing end game. This way I know my char from start to finish. And I have to admit, Currently I'm running through mobs like a train even in Protection spec. I do use a 2H when I'm not doing instances ;)

Stats to focus on while leveling, or that makes life easy.
Stamina, Blockrating, Defense. With eneugh blocrating your shield will absorb almost 100% of damage taken, and deals damage in the process.

Using a 2H weap just proves my point, up untill level 60ish Prot paladin and any other spec paladin is so similar that stats or rotations dont really matter. With gear, stats, tallents and skills you get post 60 you will deal so much more dmg using your shield and a 1H weap it becomes a different game again.

W00t! Another anti-retardi :D

Hmmz...I don't have a Tankadin, but check this link for some cool advise:

I have a level 48 pala a friend gave me which I want to level some time to be holy :)

Ty for the link, going to check it out now :)

I guess so. I still do however think that the +Armour and a few other early Protection spec talents does the Protection tree some justice ;) I might as well just build from there.

Ok nice, so here is what i got from elitisjerks:

Primary stats
Strength (str)
1 strength = 2 attack power (AP) = 0.14 dps weapon (white) damage.
2 strength = 1 block value before talents, 1.3 block value with the Redoubt talent
The Divine Strength talent increases total strength by 15%.
Agility (agi)
52.08 agility = +1% dodge chance. While this is a nice effect, Dodge Rating is a more efficient way to increase your dodge chance.
52.08 agility = +1% melee crit chance.
1 agility = 2 armor.
Stamina (sta)
1 stamina = +10 total health (hp).
10 stamina = +3 spell power (SP) from the Touched by the Light talent.
The Sacred Duty and Combat Expertise talents increase total stamina by 6% each, for a total increase of slightly more than 12% with both talents.
Intellect (int)
1 intellect = +15 total mana. This increases the size of your starting mana pool and the maximum amount of mana you can store at any point. It also increases the rate of mana regeneration from effects that restore a fraction of your mana pool, such as Replenishment, Blessing of Sanctuary, and Divine Plea. This is a nice effect, but it doesn't make intellect worthwhile as a stat for tanking gear.
166.67 Intellect = +1% chance to crit with spells, but all Prot paladin offensive abilities use the melee crit rate.
Spirit (spi)
Increases mana regeneration outside of the five-second rule. As a tank, this effect is negligible (and frankly it's negligible for all paladin specs).

For those who want to use this thread to recap :)

"Hammer of Justice" = our stun, you nab :p

I'm sure you meant: Seal of Righteousness & Judgement of Wisdom?

Here's some advice from a fellow protadin. Level 1-40 as ret. Trust me this will save you a heap of frustration. (SoJ, Auto-attack, go make coffee)

Protadins begins to shine once you get a few key talents:
1) Reckoning 5/5
2) Blessing of Sanctuary
3) Seal of Light & Seal of Wisdom.

Once you have all 3, protadins will put a smile on your face. Now you want to get a shield & put a spike on it. What also helps is getting a weapon with a "on hit" proc ability. Wearing full plate really helps too.

This is where is becomes really fun:
Look for an area where majority of the mobs are melee. Buff yourself with Blessing of Sanc & Seal of light. Mount up and pull as many as you can (might be a good idea to start with 4-5 mobs), judge wisdom/light (depending on what you need) and consecrate. Watch them numbers fly! Loot all the sparklies.

Those "kill 15 boars" or "collect 20 polka dot underwear" quests are a real breeze to do and you can easily solo same-level elites.

Prot rotations?

Er. Throw shield. Consecrate. Smash face against holy shield button. Profit.

Haha I laughed when I read the OP and saw that :P

Seal of Righteousness is okayish you're tanking trash however the best threat numbers you want for bosses you'd use Seal Of Vengeance

Stack 5 Vengeance and go afk while your dps nukes the sod to death

If you're doing a boss everybody is familiar with ( not a progress raid ) pop wings and any spelldmg trinks you may be using, then throw SoV as the DoT effect is based upon spelldmg at the time of the first application

The 2nd thing you'd use would be Shield block combined with your new improved BoSanc and your STOLEN Shield Slam

Judge light or Wisdom depending on your needs and consecrate if you have loads of mana to spare or you're tanking a load of mobs

ROFL ok ok ok ok

So i got the names messed up :p I'm a Pala noob :D

But some good advice coming in :) I have to admit, I tanked SFK last night and it was AWESOME. While leveling all my other chars I used to love being in a group with a Paladin tank. But They seem to have fallen of the face of the earth

I will now be that Tankadin :) The Tank everyone loves and wants. Having a Tankadin and your a caster, you just spam away AoE and they fall like flies :D

/cheer @ Tankadins

Admittedly that used to be the case,Warriors have FORTUNATELY gotten some mean AOE tanking capability in,just takes more work than Throwing Avenging Wrath and Consecrating while building a house of cards :P

Per example:

Me and a few Guildies have a Heroic Squad for facerolling through heroics for badges and upgrades before our 25man Naxx runs start this week

1 Prot War
Me with my Fury War
1 Oomkin
1 Resto Druid
1 Frost mage/Hunter ( depending which alt he wants to roll with )

Utgarde Pinnacle heroic - the Gauntlet event if any of you know what it is

Prot war storms to the end of the gauntlet pulling every mob in the gauntlet and starts tanking, now by this time there's round about 18mobs beating down on him like schoolkids at a candystore :P

Me,the mage and the Oomkin go on the offensive and start aoe nuking them like it's the start of the 3rd world war and not one mob lets loose trying to smash a clothy's skull in - and we are pulling around 3000-5000dps each on this aoe fest

Colour me impressed

Ok right, so now I want to hear from you end game raiders :)

Is it worth my wile to level a Protection Pala for end game raiding ? I have OT in mind ;)
Meaning I can then be the OT or maybe Main tank Mobs/Adds and let the Warrior tank the boss fights ? (Boss Tanking only)

I don't know. In our guild we have never had a Tankadin. And I have only seen very few of them, about 90% of them end up being healers.

I want to Tank end game but with a Pala not a warrior :p

Hmmz...well as far as I know it should be possible since 3.0. It wasn't in TBC. Tankadins have had some nice buffs to do end game boss tanking me thinks :)

Oh and we had a end game tankadin in guild who did mostly OT, but MT'd in BT so...its possible :)

Now that is what I like to hear, some nice motivation to level asap :)

I did tank most t4 stuff pre nerf as a tankadin (including ZA) as well as some of the t5 content post nerf, so I reckon it's doable, been MT for the last week by default as our MT was on horiday :P

He is back now, pressure is off

Oh and healing with a pally is the most boring thing of evar, glad my priest is the next to be levelled :P
