Hi all, I have an app a a customer that is resident on the server. Users log into RDP and then use the application. It is set up as an 'environment' so that when the user opens RDP on his client PC, the app is started automatically.

The problem is that the environment is such that the user does not have a taskbar and that the app needs the taskbar to show all the open windows of the app. Is it possible to enable just the taskbar but nothing else. The users must not be allowed access to anything else e.g. filesystem/drives, etc etc. Is there anything in the Group Policies that can be set?

Server is running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

Disclaimer: I know sweet blue nothing about server admin and is a complete noob on this topic...

Thanks

what do they need to do on the task bar ?,

instead of setting an app to launch set nothing then it will startup as usual, You will need someone to limit individual policies, like hiding drives and prevent access, Prevent shutdown ect ect. Normally when someone has normal user access most of the usual things are disabled. The Windows Registry is quite powerful and almost every aspect can be changed, I would just hire an engineer to do it for far less hassle.

When you start messing with security it can also have an impact on the main application used on it. It easy to block something
