Hi.

I need some help with Tasker please.

I want the GPS to start when I open Google Navigation, but it seems like Navigation is to fast for tasker
I used Secure settings to help me with Google Maps and iGo and it works very nice, but Google Navigation does not wanna play nice.

I can use a car dock app but I don’t have Bluetooth in the car so I will have to push buttons.

Is there a way to delay Google Navigation to look for the GPS so that Tasker can switch it on?

Tx

Simple solution: don't turn GPS off, leaving it on does not use battery, the GPS chip is only used when an application (like google navigation) which uses GPS is opened. Since I learned that I just leave my GPS on, no change in battery usage

I thought leaving the GPS on will kill the battery

The way I understand it, turning GPS off means that if an app needs to access GPS it must first ask permission, if GPS is on it does not need to ask, this might be usefull for some errant or malicious app trying to use your GPS but I have never had any requests to use GPS besides from GPS navigations apps (Google & Sygic) and geotagging on the camera. Although make sure the facebook app doesn't have some dodgy location sign in process running. Also note that weather apps don't require your exact location and use location info from cell towers to get your location and therefore won't use your GPS.

I use Automateit for this very purpose.

GPS on when I start CoPilot. GPS off when I close CoPilot

There are certain apps that actually do location queries in the background and others that even do it in the foreground that you may not want. Weather or not the device gps/toggle is enabled using something like tasker allows you to control exactly which apps can or cant access gps completely. Google for one actually tracks your location in the background, not sure why and I do not really care as its accuracy is **** as I don't leave gps on. It checks your location every 30 minutes.

Certain websites also ask for location via html5, even non gps apps that use google analytics can check gps location. Using tasker is part control and part paranoia, but never the less it will aid in reducing battery consumption. Having tasker turn it on only costs about 1-1.5 seconds of gps checking time so you cant even consider that a loss when my note can tag my location within 4 seconds.

Sammy does not have navigation, but if my memory serves navigation loads maps, its essentially a wrapper so using ur gps toggle on maps should solve ur problem.

Hi
If i open google maps it works nice.If i go to navigation from there it is fine. But if i open google navigation (blue arrow) the black screen with the navigation option comes up before tasker can switch on the GPS. It tells me the GPS is turned of do i want to go to settings.

Ya saw that myself, bit of a tricky one as navigation check on launch and tasker takes bout a second to get gps on. Going to settings effectively closes the app so you end up in a stupidity loop.

Only thing I can think of would be to disable gps check in nav which is not possible. Hitting back on that settings prompt closes nav.

I need some help with another one pls

I type in landscape mode, so i want to set tasker when my keyboard is active it must auto rotate the screen.

I know you can just turn your phone but most of the time my phone i lying on the table and if the phone is in portrait you must pick it up turn it and then set it down, and if the screen times out it reverts back to portrait mode

I looked into that for a similar reason, I found a pluggin which however not useful for what I want, but may help you. Search play for tasker and look through the pluggins, there is a keyboard one there somewhere.

Whats wrong with just turning the phone, seems a bit of a simple thing to be bothering with a task for. Personally run i to many aps where landscape and keyboards really do t gel and I have a note.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...S5jb2luc29mdC5hbmRyb2lkLm9yaWVudGNvbnRyb2wiXQ..

Includes Tasker / Locale plug-in

It works for an app: If i open whatsapp the orientation goes to landscape.

Now how do i tell it that when the keyboard is active to go into landscape

Is there a way in Tasker to set the S3's power saving mode on/off? I've been looking through the menu options, but nothing looked applicable to me.

I set mine on the S2 to pick the brightness when i open some apps and when i exit it returns to a low setting .. Some games i set it to lower the sound and so on. I did not see an option to set it to power save mode.

Edit: Just had a look. If you go to aplications and select all you get power saving
