Today is Tax Freedom Day (TFD), the first day of the year when you start working for yourself instead of the government.
 
The concept of Tax Freedom Day was developed to illustrate how much of the calendar year members of an average family spend in working to pay their taxes and how much time they have left in which to earn income to cover all their other family expenses, and, if at all possible, to save a little money.
 
Anybody know how it is calculated? It is obviously not only income tax. VAT. Sin tax? Entertainment tax? What else?

My word. This is the 3rd time today I have provided concrete proof that people can't/don't read the thread before responding! I'm on a roll here! :cool:

And as a side note, TFD was on the 10th of May afaik, not the 14th. :p
