Those of you who lived abroad for more extensive periods, what are the average rate at which individuals get taxed?

I would never evade tax (are you reading this, Pravin? :D), but wow, some days it seems we in the sole employ of the state at the rate at which we have to part with our goods for them and this is very depressing indeed, ESPECIALLY when you see the quality of service we get from the government in return!

In the UK between 22% and 26% was deducted from my salary, depending on the company I worked for. That includes income tax and the compulsary national insurance contribution.

In Finland it is a high as 55%. But then you don't need medical aid, RA or pension, to pay for schooling or university and pay UIF.

My point exctly.

If you get those benefits, paying is not a problem. We are not a socialist country to that extent.

I wouldn't mind paying 55% if I got the services I would in Finland.

The rest of your money will be eaten up by heating bills in winter and mozzie repellent in the summer. In the land o lakes they eat you alive. Why do you think they invented Saunas by the lakes? To hide from the Fsckers.
