Hi People

Plz help me out

The tax year is 2010/2011
Car value R150k
Total km's 12600km
Total Business km's 6500km

Scen 1
Salary R6500
Travel Allowance R3500

Scen 2
Sal R7295
TA R2705

Scen 3
Sal R8500
TA R1500

For these three I need

a)Total monthly tax
b)End of year Pay-in to SARS or Pay-back from SARS

Thanks

I will do Scen 1 the way I understand it, which it probably way wrong.

a) Monthly tax
Tax on R6500 + (R3500*80%)
=Tax on R9300
=R819

Thus Total income/year R120k
Total Sal R78k
Total TA R42k
Total Tax R9828

I can now claim R32461 for travel.

b)Now this is where I get lost?
I get to an answer of...
SARS owing me R4674 or R4331

Where did I loose the plot??

Whats the problem, that SARS owes you money? Travel allowance is a something you can claim against and since you paid tax on it you get some back if it wasn't just income without travel...

the first 18 000km's are deemed private, so becuse you aint going over 18K km's you can't really claim.
you submitting a log book?

the tax calculator is for when you submit your return only.

the first 18 000 km's are not automatically deemed private! you must submit a logbook detailing your private and business km's when you submit your tax return.

your salaries department will have the PAYE tables - so approach them and ask them to do the calculation for you.

I am also busy with this atm. Did you receive an IRP5 from your employer?

I don't calculate this myself, just input the data on your return (eFiling) then just save (DONT submit) then you can let them calculate for you
