Taxis.. /shakes head

You just made that up.
Sadly not. Let's leave it there though. And I wonder why South Africa is not a 'real 3th world country' as you put it. Most if not all of Sub Saharan Africa is 3th world. I wonder why SA is different. Ironically, it has something to do with the dark past. Let's leave that out too. It is better so trust me. Well, unless you believe we have to tank the ANC for running the private sector so well. (Mind you and fortunately for everyone, they are not - as yet)

Taxis in South Africa think are untouchable. Every time we check them we have to use the eyes at the back of our heads. Don't forget, in the taxi business rules are somewhat different. And yes, it is dangerous. Motorists see only the road dangers but the taxi business has another just as dirty and deadly site. Mind you, is the biggest, entirely African run business. A sad fact I know, like it or not.

Taxi industry needs to be regulated and held to a higher set of regulation then a private road vehicle. Problem is the government is too scared of the taxis and how they would react to regulation.

Not only they are scared but some also have a "hand in the pie". And no one dares to disclose a thing. I think is safe to say, "till Jesus comes", South Africans must live with the status quo. Like it or not.
