I hope this will help.

can you shop around some more... if you want speed then citi, else just look for a good deal between the two, because both are good run around cars...

Cant you get something safer for R54000... anything.
I would say tazz at a bit cheaper though and there's nothing wrong with a tazz or citi but really is there nothing safer in your budget?

I have really looked around and i know neither of these cars are really safe but i seriously never speed really its just a car to get me from point A to point B in EL and hopefully only for another year or 2

the only problem with Tazzes is that they tend to be over priced

Well... I am biased of course (*), but I'd recommend a Mercedes Benz 230E made between 1985 and 1994. Cheap to service, very safe, great to drive, not as light on petrol as a Citi of course but well worth it.

*by biased, I dont work for Mercedes benz, I just really like their older cars.

If R40000 to R50000 is your budget why dont you get yourself an alfa 156 its designed after 1995 some have airbags afaik, made in europe so its ncap tested ! or a 1996 upwards ballade or civic those cars are alot safer than a 1970's designed golf or a late 1980's designed conquest/tazz

You should also be able to get something like a clio 1&2, 206, old shape getz, previous fiesta
