hi ppl

over the last while after being connected for a while and when i leave my pc for abit i come back and eveything interms of the internet is dead i cant open webpages but i can get into my router page and see that iam still sync'ed and it says that iam still connected but when i try to get to a webpage i just get that the page can not be displayed.

is there anything that i need to change in windows after a new install regarding tcp/ip or anything else ?

ive turned off the power setting for my network adapters .. not sure if that was it though.

Do you use a PPPoE connection or are your username and password stored in your Router?
Im assuming its not a PPPoE Connection?

i been waiting for two days for a reply from axxess about this. For me it must be the power options but i turned them off o_0

It could be DNS settings. Faulty DNS settings (... aka settings referring to broken servers ...) would result in hostname lookups not resolving. Thus you won't be able to get an IP address from www.aardvark.co.za, but you should be able to ping its IP address directly.
You can check that by running the following commands in Command Prompt:
Code:
nslookup www.aardvark.co.za
ping 196.25.211.106
Paste the results here.

By default you don't need to change any TCP/IP settings in Windows if your router is dialing the PPPoE connection & if DHCP is enabled on it.
I usually disable TCP/IP v6 protocol in Vista & Windows 7. Other than that I leave the settings as is.

yeah i also thought to disable ipv6 but i have not done so. Ty for the info i will try those in cmd and post results when it happens again.

ok i just got home and its something to do with the dns as i came home and it had the same problem so i went to cmd and did a nslookup that didnt work and then i did a ping on the ip and that worked but not the actual url.

how do i fix this?

update: ok if i put the dns in my router then i cant connect at alllllllllllllllll wtffffffffffffffffffffff

I have the same problem on 7. I think it's to do when your pc goes to sleep it shuts your network card down. To fix the problem go to device manager and do a search for new hardware changes your connection should come back. Hope this works for you.

this very strange yesterday i tried these dns for IS seeing iam with axxess and i couldnt connect at all 168.210.2.2/196.14.239.2 and they (axxess) said i should try this now for my dns 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and so far so good at least i hope so.

iam getting so tired of this now.

At least you know how to fix your Internet now if the default DNS servers aren't available.

Angelus, the setting I'm talking about is under configuration of your network adapter. Turn off the setting under power management that says "Allow Pc to turn this device off to save power"

Are you entering this into your router or in windoze?

If you were putting them in your router, try add it into windoze and see if that makes a difference?

hey i been putting it all into my router and this morning with the googledns it dropped at about 3:34 this morning.

yes maybe i should put it all in my windows settings as well, i will try that thanks.

axxess is saying i should exchange my router for another one if it doesnt work out the googledns.
