Team Negative One completes 35mm Restoration of Star Wars

Yes Lucas there are still original prints out there un****ed by your greedy paws :erm:

I hope that after Team Nagative's disbandment that Disney will do us proud.

Now what is this about? So in short TN1 purchased worked from an original print as it was when it first screened in 1997. They cleaned it up and released version 1. They then started to work on version 2, but they stopped because of one party saying they didn't have permission to work from that print they were using for version 2.

Of course being the internet you can still backup version 1 its simply called star wars silver screen edition and comes along in 25 gig and about 3 gig versions. Looking at it now I can almost swear the shots tends to be wider and that some shots now have extra things in it. However I will confirm that later againts the DEs and the latest iteration from Lucas.

Until Disney comes to the party its either this or harmy's despecialized editions

As far as I know Fox holds the distribution rights to the original trilogy, so Disney can't do anything about it.

Fox still retains original distribution rights to Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope "in perpetuity" in all media worldwide. Fox also retains theatrical, nontheatrical, and home video rights worldwide for the franchise's five subsequent films through May 2020, at which time ownership will transfer to Disney. This complex relationship between Fox and Disney, particularly in regards to Fox's perpetual rights to Episode IV, creates an obstacle for any future boxed set comprising all nine films.

Of course, but point being is that there is original prints out there that has not been altered and well 2020 is not that far away if fox keeps on being a prick about it.

So at least now we have harmy and team negative1's release(s)

It wouldn't let me specify a time, watch from 5:36 to see what Ninja'd is talking about.

This time

Is it worth downloading this?

If you own the Blu rays I would suggest you get the Despecialized edition, the colour correction alone is worth getting it.

Just be sure you get the latest versions.

So are we after the crappy looking 1977 one, or the fantastic looking 1997 one?

I'm confused.

The 1997 one was the first special edition, with potato quality CGI.

If you even like Star Wars a tiny bit watch this:

If you only watch up to 2:30 and then watch from 6:30 to see the scanner they built to transfer the film into a digital format they could use, it's absolutely insane and amazing.
