Job description
Being a Technical Consultant you won't just be solving IT problems, you'll be working with our top-tier clients to help them meet their business needs through innovative solutions. You'll be a trusted advisor, helping our clients make better, informed decisions. How? Using consulting skills, business knowledge, and packaged solution expertise, you'll work directly with clients to select, implement, support and effectively integrate IBM's world-class packaged technology solutions into their diverse business environments.
The Technical Consultant is expected to lead business and technical activities ranging from pre-sales to sales to delivery as required by the client engagement/contract. They will have demonstrated leadership in information technology on complex engagements in global environments. They will be responsible for formulating a strategic vision and a tactical roadmap to address client's critical business and technology needs in conformance with overall corporate objectives.
You are deep subject matter expert available to accelerate sales and delivery in high growth strategic areas and emerging markets, thus supplementing local solutioning and delivery excellence capabilities.
Responsibilities:
• Primarily provide advice on incorporating or integrating information technology systems to increase efficiency and improve processes, service delivery, customer relationships, and expenditures
• Provide support to management and teams that oversees and coordinates all IT support requirements
• Manage and control IT information including all matters concerned with the planning, design, development, installation, and implementation of information management architectures, policies, procedures, systems and applications
• Lead major portions of large or medium projects, and lead small projects autonomously
• Gather facts through research, interviewing, surveys, etc
• Analyze the client’s business; draw conclusions; prepare final reports; and give presentations to senior and executive management
• Is proficient in the use of key analysis and graphics tools
• Use in-depth consultative skills and business knowledge based on accumulated experience and education aligned to meet business objectives and processes
• Manage new installations and migrations
• Manage resolution of system and network issues for clients
• Facilitate development and implementation of improvements to client's information technology systems
• Analytical skills - ability to analyze complex data and computer systems and find inefficiencies, analyze weaknesses or security threats
• Brief client on recommendations, write recommendations, listen to concerns and communicate with team mates
• Need to be able to analyze an issue, security threat or problem and make decisions on how to proceed
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Provide guidance and recommendations to junior IT Consultants
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 2 years’ experience in technical consulting
• At least 2 years’ experience in deep Industry Knowledge - Business / Systems. Finance, Retail, Gov't, Life Sciences, or Telco
• At least 2 years’ experience in effective translating business objectives to system requirements
Preferred Education and Experience
• Master's Degree
• At least 5 years’ experience in technical consulting
• At least 5 years’ experience in deep Industry Knowledge - Business / Systems. Finance, Retail, Gov't, Life Sciences, or Telco
• At least 5 years’ experience in effective translating business objectives to system requirement
